Autocrossed My RX-8

3rd time I've had the car out on course. getting faster with it as it is a momentum car that needs to be driven smoothly. Not having any real torque makes for extra effort to keep enigne up over 7K RPM in 2nd.

Absolutley bone stock Sport and it is just fine.

how'd you place in B-stock? What kind of competition are you up against in your region?

Just messing around no times recorded on Saturday practice. But while testing the timers I was close to the rest of the B-stock guys.

Polak brought his 04 GT RX-8 out and placed 3rd in pax. All us X-class regulars didn't factor into the PAX times.
Basic gaggle of 350Z and such for competion.

I'm going to my first Solo event this saturday at FedEx Field so I'm trying to get an idea what it will be like. Registration is closed, but I'm hoping an opening develops. I looked at the schedule of the day, and the novice walk through is at ~8:20am, if I'm not racing that day, do you think I'll still be able to sit-in on that and the drivers meeting? What about getting a ride-along with an instructor/experience member? If not all runs are timed, does that happen?

gotta buy a helmet by april 22, thats the next open event.

Normally it is not a problem to ride along with others. The extra couple of pounds does not make that much difference till you need like .2 seconds to beat someone and all your runs are less than .1 seconds apart.

We in Delta region SCCA will let anyone ride along to promote the sport. A rider today will be a racer tomorrow and a member for life.

Show up early and maybe help set up "hey what do you need me to do"? can you put those chairs and tables up cool , (talk talk talk I'm new) hey make sure you come get a ride with me, is how it works. Most places have loaner helmets but a hat or "do-rag" is a good idea.

Haven't done it since my Miata, will prolly try this year. Your smooth comment couldn't be more true. I ran ok times, but usually I enjoyed sliding it around to the detriment of my times. So far my 8 feels as controllable as my old Miata did...wish I kept that car.

Meh I'll blame that spin on the extra weight you added to the passenger side , all in all a good day, delta was pretty fun to run with, compliments to Joe in a seriously fast 914 thats 37 years old, what class do you normally run?

And my lady friend attributes the win to herself and not you or was it hassens driving.

Yea it was Hassan driving the car for that run. It was me who talked her into riding along.

Might a been getting behind the cones in the slalom and then lifting off the gas that got you in trouble. Really cool recovery however.

I am religated to X Prepared with a PAX time of .874

From your comments AutoXforums I truely hope you can help with awards and such. We are just getting back on our feet after Katrina. Friday we had Bulldoxers pushing all the mud and rubble off the course. So in that regard what we ended up with was dang good.

And absolutely you are welcome back anytime. Next time you can catch a ride in my car.

If they would have let me drive barefoot that may have been different, you don't happen to be a size 10 with and extra set do you...? Kinda pointless to ship down the ones I have at home for the 5 more weeks I'm in town.

Sorry I have little feet.
I also have no excuses for my driving. Because that's how we roll here in the south.

Joe, FWIW, my son has a 76 914. He's also got a Renesis motor that we're doing some prep work on as a transplant. The biggest challange has been to add radiators without cutting holes in the front trunk. It's got a way to go before it gets finished with our time constarints.

Haha Sure if you come out I will give you another ride...

Yeah man, you gotta be careful about being logged in lol...

Renesis in a 914... hmm I have a nice bridgeported 13B that I have been trying to convince joe to put in a 914. It was in my FC and with a T-66 dynoed 447 at 14 psi..

I've ridden in a bridgeported MG midget, was alot of fun, but taking out the boxer 4 out of the 914 would kinda be like putting a LS1 in a rx-7 destroy's the soul of the car IMHO.

Well the engine I am talking about was built with 600+ whp in mind.. I only dynoed it at 14 psi.. never dynoed at more boost. Then I got bored and decided that i needed another challenge... hence a all motor 1.8L Honda with ITBs and 257 whp... lol

So 400+ whp in a 914 with lots of chassis stiffening some trick suspension (hint.. double A arms front and back) with some sticky tires would make a hell of a race car... lol

Yea Hassan's Civic is fast and when he pulled away from some serious American iron coming out of turn 14 at NPR going down the straight I know peeps were like "What the ...... DAMN"!!!!!!!!!!!!
But it has been proven tough to be a 914 @ Autocross.

Oh yea just for the board. Washed and waxed the RX-8 last night

Don't know what giggity giggity means. But for an old married perv That's as close as I can get I guess.

Hey Polak we are doing a School on Saturday 24 March in Baton Rouge and autocross Sunday same place. VERY smooth asphalt lots of grip tho. http://www.cenla-scca.org/

And I think my Winning blue sport is faster than your Gray GT.

And we know what happens to the G35 when you put cones infront of it.
