I have a base model so I don't know how the DSC is on the 8 but I've always found the DSC systems annoying since they grab random brakes and are generally unpredictable IMO. Plus a good spin or two is always fun. I'm running 39-40psi in my KDWs, 30 seems kind of low but I've never used Kuhmos.

I have the luxury of running in the same region as the 'cheater' 968 so I have a good national level guideline. I'm generally around 4 seconds slower on a 45 second course on street tires and I hear r-comps generally give you 2-3 seconds. Once I find a little more time (and $$$) I might make the switch. We also have a street tire PAX class where I keep missing the trophies by thousandths (PAXed time) From my experience, local practices and test-and-tunes are well worth the money for seat time and I've gotten much faster since I started last summer. Hopefully I figure out what I'm doing so I can give Travis a run for his money on a regular basis. He probably has nightmares where 8s are chasing him the entire time :D

I definitely got hooked to autoX. Just waiting for my konis to get here this week. Looks like I'm well submerged in the proverbial deep-end

Before you start trying to catch me maybe you should think about catching Ethan in his M3 first. If you want some used Hoosiers to finish this year my brother has a set of 245/35/18's you could buy cheap and then you could see how far off you still are from Ethan and I. As far as RX-8's chasing me thats right because they have all been behind me this year.

I'm also cooling the tires between runs.

Also, on a side note, of course it's more fun running with the DSC off, but is it more effective to run with it on?

Open to anyones opinion!

Thanks!
I turn DSC and traction control off on all my runs. I've forgotten to occasionally, but I learn my lesson pretty quickly.

I have 275/40-17 Azenis on my car. On stock suspension with a decent amount of camber I had the fronts at 40 and the rears at 36. I use a pyrometer and found that those pressures got me pretty even temperatures across the tires.

Right now my car is changing a lot every event, so my current pressures won't mean a lot to you. Hell, they barely mean a lot to me right now. I haven't figured it out as it is yet.

Kumho's ECSTA SPT's
I don't personally run them but a few people here have run them and they love low pressures. 30 psi is about right for these tires. The only problem is that they are a little unresponsive so you have to turn a little sooner.

Every tire is different so it really is trial and error.

This is a n00b answer, but I just run even (36 psi) on my Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs. Maybe higher or lower pressures are better, but I know my tires aren't rolling, and the balance seems OK. I am not yet driving well enough for front/rear tire pressure balance to make an appreciable difference. So I guess my point is that if you are new, set it to some setting that seems OK, and just leave it alone, concentrating on improving your skill first.

You want DSC off, because it interferes when you are slithering around (max traction) or when you need to rotate the rear end around with throttle on a tight turn (so you can get on the gas earlier). You will go faster with DSC off.

Big talk from a guy with as many DSQs as wins in his car. Bring that thing to Topeka and lets see how things shake out.

in that case, remind me at Nationals to give you a map so you can figure out where various cities are located.
that is, if you can find your way there again. i'm having my doubts...

Or from L.A. living in pinche Knoxville!

Anyway, I appreciate the input guys. On my last run I actually started my first run with 40psi all the way around (due to a big *** course, had to take a **** and a qiuick group switch) then finally made my way down to 30 (fronts) and 34 (rear), so it looks like I'm on the right track! Now I'll run with the DSC off, that'll be this weekend, aw ****!

I'll let you guys know the results. I'll try to keep in mind the early steering with these kumho's.

Westcoast por Vida!

Hey, the way I figure it, anything off the eastern seaboard is part of the "West Coast Crew"...in other words, I'm not only claiming you for the team, but also Harvey, Rowse (no longer BS, unfortunately), Foley etc.

Not big talk just fact. Sorry to disapoint but can't make it to Topeka this year with kids and businesses to run just won't work. Next year the car will hopefully be even better then we'll see.

Whacha!

Gotta thank you guys for the input about the DSC and tire pressure.
I ran 30 in the fronts and 35 in the rears, not to mention ran with the DSC off. Holy Shight what a difference! I improved my times and even had a couple of runs to bust a little sideways action!!! Whacha!!!

Gracias!!!

His family owns several Subway restaurants in PA. He runs some and his brother Trevor runs the others.

you can't run 16's on anything other than base automatics. wheels won't clear the front brakes.

i run evo8 stock rims with 235 45 17 advan A048 medium compound and love them way more then the rt615s i used to have on my other cars.

i started off this year on snow tires :/ this being my first rwd car i learned alot from that setup but the new advan 17" setup is gripping way better then i thought it would

just wish the rx8 stock didnt have so much body roll lol
