Capital Driving Club

the capital seemed to things a bit closer and easier for me to get to that swhy I was looking there but I'm willing to drive an hour or so to get to things. After watching people's videos I want to try this no matter how shitty or slow I go... I just seem like a lot fun.

Autocrossers Inc is very novice friendly. WDCR region has two good novice coordinators, but their events are much larger and faster paced. I've never been to a CDC driving.

Their site seems to be down currently (or running really slowly), but this is it: http://www.autoxinc.com/

Both AI and WDCR are finished for the season now.
Are you looking at the event in Bowie or in Frederick? (Woodbridge is done for this season)
What part of NOVA are you in?
If Bowie the BMW club also has one this weekend there also.

I'm a member of CDC. They are very low-key and give drivers a heaping amount of runs for the money. Always have a good time running with them. Novice friendly too. Just let them know you are a novice when you sign up, and again when you go through registration.

Are the specific on the cars though? do they do class types or anything depending on how the car is setup or am I mistaking this for something else.
This explains how it works:

And the whole thing is a good read for a novice:

on the schedule they show a test & tune in late november. Is that something that anyone can join and do? If so, do you think that would be a good place to start?
does this cost anything extra or just the $30 dollar a year membership?

Well I made contact with the CDC about the test & tune event in November. Seems like the best place to start because I'm not wasting competition time to figure out how to do it. Is anyone here going to that in November? I know I can show up and join the club and get time but I think I'd rather try it first, if anyone is going can I come as a guest under your name or however they do this?

You don't have to join CDC to run an event. I ran three events last year without joining. I don't know if I'll be running the t&t's, but I will be there for the autocross next Saturday.
I'm also guessing that you've seen this bit about the costs:

I would probably just pay non-member rate for the t&t at this point and then join up next year. Otherwise you pay $30 membership for one or two events, then just have to pay it again next spring (unless Ed gives you a waiver, which he might. Very nice guy).
