Car chemistry mufflers
Anyone used or heard of car chemistry mufflers? They are just inserts and obviously lightweight. I was thinking of just sticking one or two in the stock catback pipe and get rid of the muffler.

i had these on my non smog controlled cobra replica. they raised the pitch of the sound and made it harder to make sound at racing events. they made my beautiful V8 sound wheezy off throttle.
others dynoed 20-30 hp losses with the inserts (on 400hp motors)

Thanks. That's exactly what I needed to know. I think that is enough evidence for me not to use them. Looks like maybe going with a burns stainless race muffler or two in addition to my jalopy setup in the back. Then, on autocross days, take off the magnaflow mustang muffler and put on a turndown.
