Car Numbers
The misses is thinking about trying a little auto-x at the local tracks and was looking for the easiest and cleanest way to put numbers on the side of her car.
She shows her 8 and won't even consider it if it's going to leave any marks or scratches. Any help, much appreciated

There are 2 easy ways that I have used. White shoe polish works. You can wash it off if you don't leave it on for long. Also, you can cut numbers out of the sticky back shelf lining material. It doesn't stick quite as strong as the vinyl used for permanent numbers and it can pull off easily. A good wax job would be recomended before using both.

I'd be more worried about paint damage from the cones and not so much the numbers. Hope it doesn't stop her from giving it a shot!!!

1935 lbs. FTW!
www.izoomgraphics.com They have a basic magnetic set for 25 bucks. Much easier and looks better than shoe polish or painters tape. A lot of clubs don't allow shoe polish either.

Another option is www.rallydecals.com run by Keith Casey. Great guy who trophied in a BS RX-8 in 2006 at Nats (won STX when it was a supplemental class a few years earlier).
His work is great, the numbers get to you very quickly (took 3 days to arrive after my last order) and I've used him twice thus far.

Blue painter's tape is the shnizzit...just make sure your number is either 1 or 7...or 17...or 71...I think I ran painter's tape numbers at my first National Tour, Atwater 2005
I made the magnetic numbers I'm currently using and it was very easy. I bought some magnetic backed vinyl sheet at TAP Plastics and created the stencils on my PC. Cut 'em out with an exacto, then painted with Krylon "Fusion" plastic paint.
They look purty and cost me next to nothing, given that I have enough paint and vinyl to make multiple sets.
