Center Force stage 2 clutch, good or bad buy?! pls help!
i found some one with a Center Force stage 2 clutch from their rx8 that they totaled
i dont know the shape of it, but it looked fine in the pictures. anyways, he only wants 300$ for it! good buy or bad buy? i just have the original clutch on mine, and i can tell its going out. If I am going over 7,000 RPM in first gear and shift to 2nd, it just grinds and makes this horrible noise, so I have to double clutch if I want to go fast. It doesnt do that for daily driving (under 6000 RPM) It does that also randomly when i go into 5th, but not often, and its only those 2 gears....so Im just guessing its my clutch, if you have any other ideas, please tell. Also please let me know if this is a good buy!!! i dont know anything about clutches!!!

ok so how do i fix this? from what i read ive come to understand the synchros are in the transmission, and that every gear has its own synchro, right? so if i buy a new clutch it wouldnt solve my problem. ive only had my rx8 for about 3 months, and its my first standard vehicle, so i dont know a whole lot about parts. ive never had a similar problem with my automatic cars. so would i need to buy a new transmission? i have warranty still, or can i just buy the synchros and have them replaced? thx for any more answers an info and not making fun of me

the only way to fix the synchros will be to get the transmission rebuilt ($$$). At this point you are living on borrowed time. the problem will get worse and that could make the rebuild more expensive, so you should get it looked at. A new clutch will not fix it. I don't know what a trans rebuild will cost, but it will be at least 3X the clutch you are looking at. Sorry for the bad news. Maybe someone can chime in with a better estimate of the trans rebuild. Also, this thread is in the wrong section.

What kind of fluid do you have in your current trans? I've heard of people getting rid of their synchro grinding by switching to Pure Power and/or Redline products.
I run Redline MT-90 in my trans and after 74K miles and two seasons of autocross (2 drivers 1st season, 3 drivers in the 2nd season), I've had zero tranny issues.
