I jumped into Eric's car this morning as BS lost some entries and didn't have enough for a class.
More on my thoughts of RX8vs350Z later today, now that I think I figured out how to drive an 8.

Well, I got two redlights this morning, and two this afternoon, good times! :D
The results stayed the same. Eric is up 1.1 or so, I think Brian is ahead of brandon by .2 and I'm back .5 from Brandon? I think Mark is .4 back from me as well.
Thoughts... I miss my torque :D The RX-8 is an interesting beast, I'd love to see what times I'd be turning in my 350 though, I think i'd be able to give Eric a run for his money.

I obviously haven't converted Chris yet...but he has 4 more runs
in the morning to change his mind!
The car worked great last weekend but this week the sweepers
are a little smaller so the car is pushing. :-(
and the rotary engine does not like high elevations & high temps.
i can't wait to get back to sea level where I have *some* power!

No joke... I don't think teamRX8 could have picked a worse event to face off with the boosted STU cars. Lucky for BS no MR2 turbos are there.
How is the course? Is see AS, BS and CS are all within .2......

The course is actually pretty fun. The end slolom right before the finish can be a bisch though. The rest of it is fairly straight forward. My last few runs I got to toss the car a bit, I will say it sure can hold things the Z wouldn't be able to hold. But torque torque torque :D

Imp, still on the 245's. i thought you were supposed to test the 275's?
Brian, who finished 2nd, will be a trophy contender in Topeka. he just needs
to learn to drive the first day...
Mark had oversteer problems the first day. Saturday night he found an RB
front bar and improved big time on Sunday. Mark & I were matched up in the
first round of the Challenge. I had the lead after the first run but slid into a cone
on the last slalom to give the win away... :-(

After the 100+ temps of the National Tour I elected to skip the Pro. I didn't put up a real good showing in STU the week before, but I am starting to figure my car out. I'm only running 245s, so I'm not really properly equipped just yet to compete at the top level yet. Not to mention my driving :/
I'm only slightly surprised by Mark's performance. The RX-8 is underrated for STU--there's no reason it shouldn't be quicker than the M3s, which have proven to be competitive with the Sti's. The really fast guy in the Sti from the Tour must have gone back to AZ and missed the Pro, or Mark probably would have had a real challenge.

No, he won SS in a Z06.

So please don't try to downplay Mark's win or think the competition wasn't a "real challenge".
However I doubt Mark is done, I am sure he will not settle for where he is at and the car will only get faster.

Yeah, too bad STU is not a Nat'l class for purposes of the National Championships. When might that happen (given participation)? 2007? I'm trying to remember, didn't Imp win STX the year before it was a National Championship class? I still think of him as that year's STX champ though.

No not trying to downplay the win. True they weren't there the week before as well, so hard to compare. Just saying Brian ran away from everyone at the Tour. Turns out he usually Paxes at or near 1000 in his CSP Miata (from what I remember him saying) in Arizona.
Congrats to Mark on the win. They should only get faster from now on...
