Good luck guys! have fun this weekend, i've only ran in the rain once and it was fun...but sucked at the same time. make sure you stay warm so your not stuck in bed for day two, and hopefully the rain ends early.

Yep, rain had to play a part in the first day, for sure...interesting, the second drivers were quickest in their second runs, while the first drivers were best in their third runs...makes me think that, mid group, it started to improve and then the rain came down, again...
BTW, rain sucks!! We have a regional tomorrow, it's forecasted to be raining all day (possible T-storms)...guess who is stuck charing the event?

Let's see, the course was wet everywhere but with little standing water for first runs - kind of an on/off drizzle at that point. I tried getting on the throttle 'gingerly' in the turn-around only to have the back end almost come all the way around on me...and I was in 2nd gear. Carter did his first run on Hoosier wets btw.
By second runs the rain had stopped completely and small areas of the course were starting to show dry pavement. Probably still less than 10% of the course though. I got really sideways early on, and dnf'd as I missed a gate and headed towards a worker station - saw a course workers eyes pop out and they started back pedalling, but I put both feet in and brought the car under control over 20ft from the worker/fence! Course was getting drier and maybe 20% was dry. Carter switched back to his 285 V710's for his 2nd run.
By 3rd runs, maybe 40% of the course was dry when I went out. I got a little sideways in a few places and had my only so-so run. Carter seemed to really go banzai on his 3rd run. It looked great until he got to the turn-around - he downshifted to 1st gear and his back end wagged on him at least 4-5 times. I was actually surprised he didn't spin. He easily lost well over a 1 second in addition to momentum, and still ran a 50.4. Would easily have been a low 49/high 48 imho.
My co-driver drove well considering the conditions and how new the car is to him and is in the final trophy spot. At least Rick Ruth is attending this event, so I'm sure he'll break out PAX for Saturday & Sunday.
FWIW, the wet course affected some of the second heat, but according to Lehman whose co-driver Hector was running in ASP in that heat, by 3rd runs the line on the course was completely dry.
Just my $0.02...

Btw, Sunday's course has a really long almost straight start - it's so long I was joking with Disimo that they could record 60fts. Should definitely favor the Z drivers if they can control wheelspin. The overall Sunday course if much faster than it was today. It'll definitely reward those who can keep their foot in it...

So Sunday was completely dry, but still very cold since we were first heat. The course did have a nice long straight to begin with, so the Z's could make up some time. Also, the turnaround was increasing radius, so again, power helped. Carter started out dirty and cleaned it up last run, ripping off a 47.3. Cavanaugh did a 47.2 so it was a tight race....until Fossum came out of nowhere and laid the smackdown with a 46.4! Awesome driving and super nice guy.
It was great to meet everyone, as there was no RX8 snobbery. Even though I have a 350z I wasn't shunned too badly
See you all at the DC Pro?

Hope you can get in Jay - not sure if they're any spots are left. Btw, it was great meeting you...and that guy I told you about who runs with you locally is named John.
My day 2 runs were better, but I really blew my last run...surprised I ended almost with the same time as my 2nd run. I'm looking forward to the DC Pro when I should have at least a dozen events under my belt.
