does water meth injection influence spark plug heat range
as the title says " Does running water methanol injection influence the choice of spark plug heat range on the track"?
Of course i am running a FI engine. But, since i keep my intake charge temps down with this system I got to wondering about if my plugs are too cold. running 10.5's
i know i need to pull them and look at them while i am tracking ---but for one reason or the other i havent.
Thoughts---opinions---food stamps---i accept all.

Very True and the ethanol content doesnt help.
I used leaded racing gas once--- i will not ever do that again
ran like crap.
Anybody out there with any thoughts? I KNOW there are other running w/m!

You're both asking the question and admitting you haven't bothered to investigate it yourself despite being the person running both.
Are you sure that you want my opinion? Otherwise I can only offer up some foot stamps to plant on your backside.
the hot NA track guys run 10.5 or 11s so you being FI I'd have to seriously doubt that they're too cold for anything other than general street use. They aren't intended for low load use.
They'll look cold regardless. That's the whole point of using them. This ain't your fathers Buick ....

My Dads Buick kicked +ss--biggest block of cast iron i have ever seen in my life under that hood. Coarse i was 10 yrs old at the time
My butt probably needs a kick or 2 but dont worry --my wife has been yours (and a lot of others) proxie and rest assured she represents well---lol.
No --she doesnt need a bag either
Trick is I am in uncharted territory. Now my intake charge temps are much lower than theirs. Hell my intake charge temp is cooler than their gas lines.
The temps range on the lim--(maybe 10 inches from the intake ports?) is between 110-135F while on track.
I have not measured egt's. Dont have the capacity for that. Dont want to buy more stuff.
Thought someone may have had some experience?
May have to wait until the next track w/e?

]You probably need to rethink the question.
What you want to know is whether W/M affects your choice of spark plugs or not.
That said, it is unlikely that you have done the due dilligence for that plug choice that you are running now, so the question, in your particular situation, is moot.

Yep----been lazy about it.
I have thought if anyone else had also considered this?
Pulling my plugs once I get home does reveal a pretty good looking picture. Very little deposits, ceramic insulator a good light brown color, the bar is good etc.
One plug---leading rear had a strange look---one half the bar and ceramic (speaking vertically) had a brown very fine deposit on it and the other half had a light black. Flame front travel prehaps?
I started thinking about this after I lost my wheel liner on track and got that issue dealt with, because that same session revealed an intermediate misfire (at times) if i didnt allow my intake charge temp to go above 125F range. At least the misfire stopped after i let that temp get higher. It was running 115 or so when it occured. I KNOW it was not getting too much w/m.
Old racer at the track told me to watch my plugs and make sure they are getting hot enough.
I am running the colder densos.
Yall gonna make me work arent ya.
damn
