first time at the strip
15.497 @ 85mph
Not bad I suppose for the first time ever at the strip. Temp was in the mid 60's. Got to feel what wheel hop is, and how much I never want to put the car through that again . My goal was mid 15's and I got it on my second run. First run I left DSC on accidentaly. The 3rd run I had a passenger and launched at 3k instead of 5.5k as in the first two runs. I'm gonna stay off the strip until i get some decent mods, particularly something to reduce that wheel hop.
I agree with those that say the RX8 isn't a drag car, and I didn't buy it because I thought it was one. I had more fun having everyone gawk at the car and even the announcer shoot me props on the PA system.

did you reduce tire pressure? I think the 2nd one has the car title swapped. The hop should be able to be eliminated with practice.
See my posts back about August about my trip to the track.

yea, the cars are swapped on the 2nd one...i fixed it but for some reason it uploaded my old copy.
although i havent checked, the tire pressure is whatever the dealer put it at and no TPMS lights. i'm skeptical about dropping pressure, as we all saw what happened to judge ito. would raising or lowering it help the wheel hop at all?
edit: found your post, seems like dropping the pressure will lower 60ft times...althought I thought my 2nd 60ft was decent, i'll consider it :-/

like i said, it was right before the trap where i was probably going 90 or over. missed it, gave up, decided to coast the last split second and lost 2 mph.

I think short shifting a little bit (8300-8500) would yeild the best #s.

1.) Shifting into 4th is a bad idea and will only slow you down.
2.) The guy in the STi was either a bit of an inexperienced driver or the track was a little slow. He did botch a launch pretty badly, and his trap speeds were all over the place, so the former is most likely the case. Though there's still a chance the track was a bit slow so maybe you could shave a couple tenths off just by going to another track.
3.) The Car names are reversed on the 2nd slip

The 60-foot times for both cars were slow, particularly for the new 8 driver. But that's ok... it'll come down.
4th is a very bad idea. I agree with Ike.
Now, time slips will bear this out, but you gotta wind motors like these for all they are worth before shifting. This will put you further up the power curve when you engage the next gear... which is more important than shifting right *at* the power peak.
I see it with my 125cc shifter kart. Shifting at the power peak is 1 second slower a lap than taking it all the way past the power peak just before it falls flat on its face.

pretty good run for a first time out. the pros at motor trend did a late 14's run at like 92, so your run was almost on par with them, if you didn't have a passenger with you it would have brought it down a little more!
