![Question](https://www.rx8club.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
So I'm in the market for a fixed bucket, and I've narrowed it down to 2 choices, both courtesy of AssaultTech (thanks). But now need some input from everyone else. It's going to either be the Status Ring (cloth/frp) or the Corbeau FX1 pro (cloth/frp). Does anyone have any experience with either seat? There are a few pros/cons with each that I've found, 1, price, I can get 2 of the corbeau's with rails for the price of 1 Status. I don't really "need" the pass. seat, but it would be nice. Another thing is I've noticed that the Status seat is side mounted, and sits lower, while the Corbeau mounts from the bottom, and may be too high with a helmet on. Last but absolutely not least, I've heard mixed reviews from some people (only some) the the Corbeau does not provide very much lateral leg support (although that could be a + when it comes down to getting in and out of the car).
Any opinions are great.
Thanks

Seat height is critical, for me. Not because I'm super tall (6 foot) but because I just like to sit low. Of course, if you are having helmet clearance issues with one choice then that should be a huge red flag.
Have you sat in either? Make sure the shoulder support is at the right spot, and that you like the width at the waist (I like it a bit snug).
Does your car have power seats or the sunroof? How tall are you? These two factors will tell you a lot about how concerned you should be about mounting height.

while clearance and seat position is paramount, you may also want to check out weight and construction type, if i remember correctly a lot of corbeau seats are made from tubular construction and some of them are actually heavier than stock power seats.

George -> I'm only 5'10" and I like my seats snug also, No power seats, no sunroof, BUT, when I sit in my stock seats I have contact sometimes. I can't find anyone anywhere near me that has either available for me to sit in.
c0ldf1ame -> the corbeau is a little more heavy, but its frp, not the tubular one, i'm not a big fan of tubular style seats.
I really like the look of the side support on the status, its tall, meaning better support. But like i said before, the price difference is HUGE.
This is why i was wondering if anyone has experience with either seat. i found a lot of reviews for the cor. from subby owners, 80% loved them, the other 20 said the support was "ok", and i cant find anything really on the status seats... so this is my dilema....

I have Status Ring GT's in carbon/leather so it's not a direct comparo but they're definitely a high quality seat. Higher quality than most other seats i sat in before making my decision. The shape and padding is quite comfortable too -- for a fixed back bucket seat anyways.
They're really bolstered too. I used to have to worry about sliding around or moving around at all in my stock seats when i was at the track. Now i dont even think about it any more and i can completely concentrate on driving.
FYI -- I can sit in the car with a helmet on and still have some clearance (I'm 6'4" and have a sun roof). That has more to do with bracket construction than anything though. I would recommend finding someone to make you custom brackets.
Here is a pic of mine so you can see how they look.

damn that looks nice
If i do go for the status, my financing agent (wife) will only let me blow the money at 1, while i can get a pair of the cor.'s for less than 1 status. the mounting is my main concern really i guess. As much as i love the look of the status, i may be going with the cor. just because of price, unless anyone has anything bad to say about cor.

george -> I think i may try to do that, I'll have to collect info from their site on the seat height, and bracket height combined.
c0ld -> I saw your gallery, thats a great looking seat, it the lateral support looks really similar to the cor. How do you like the support? also, so, your the white caged 8 with a bucket that I see passing by my shop on valley all the time, clean ride.

hey where is your shop? im always on or around valley for food haha, as far as the recaro the lateral support works pretty well for me, its not very high but does its job very well, and makes getting in and out not too hard. I feel since the seat width fits me pretty well, (im 5' 9" about 160lbs) and the lateral support is decently high, theres really no room for movement once your in the seat. And if the supports are any higher then my legs might get stuck between the steering wheel when i get in and out.

^ across from the KFC / Aloha near the 710 ramp.
That is one thing i was considering, being that the sides are slightly shorter, it may very well ease the in/out of the car
