Gingerman Lap Times

Does anyone have any RX-8 lap times from Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, MI?

My best lap time was just under 1.42 running street tires a few years ago. Car was stock except for wheels/cat back.

I'm going back on Sunday with r comps and a new alignment and was wondering what the car might be capable of running there.

They are reconfiguring the track this winter so this will be my last opportunity to run there with the old configuration.

I guess we will have to start braking before the starters stand with that configuration. That is going to be fast.

Not sure I like the straight extended before the only wall on the course and there isn't much runoff between the wall and the track as is...but should be interesting.

Don't over drive your car and you shouldn't have any problem.
Honestly, I know what you mean. I don't remember if there was any pits down there. They could remove that part of the wall and put in a gravel trap.

I'm actually not on there. I just saw the link from another forum. It was posted by a local spec miata racer.

I actually like the addition to the track. It should flow really well from 7 to 9 and then that turn after nine should be fun and could be very fast. It looks like they are making turn 11 faster as well, although track out may only be a few feet from the armco kind of like turn 10 at Putnam.

Well my car never made it to the track. I lost a rear brake caliper on the way to the track which led to total brake failure due to loss of brake fluid. Quite a scary moment as the brake pedal went the floor while on the interstate. Fortunately, I limped it to a garage where it will be fixed.

We had a good time at the track however. Crazy day since the track was soaked and several inches of rain fell all day. Standing water and mud all over the track.

I borrowed a fully race prepped Ford Festiva for some hot laps.

One of the guys also brought out the new GTR so that was nice to see in action.

And here is the race prepped Festiva (aka the Festacle) that I drove (although this isn't me in the pic)

We had a free day of track today to make up for the day that we were rained out.

I had a few upgrades to my car and this was the first time that I could test them out. Ran some r comps for first time and Hawk Ht-10 brakes and a new alignment. I was able to shave almost 3.5 seconds off my lap time. I ran a 1:38.53.

I know I left some time out there on the track and also was running with a CEL all day but I'm pretty happy with that lap time.

Wow

Wow -- turn 10 was already fairly fast, but with the banking and more than another 1/8 mile you are going to come flying into the front straight.

The only wreck I have seen out there was between turns 1 and 2 (race-prepped BMW too fast into turn one, and ended up in the wall entering turn two right in front of me). I hope they can do something to make this a bit safer turn!

Have been out there several times, but never with a timer, so don't know what I was running. Loved the track, though it wasn't the most challenging.

Try Gratten. It's like riding a roller coaster in your car.
