Goodyear Eagle RS Autox DOT's

Goodyear Eagle RS Autox DOT's
Has anyone tried these on the 8 or see anyone running these? Here is a synopsis from Jeff Kiesel, one of the drivers to test them head to head with the Hoosiers. Keep in mind that Jeff is sponsored by Goodyear so the insights may need to be tempered somewhat. There are two different sizes that would be applicable to our cars.
One con is that they develop a bit of a push which the 8 is already trending toward.
Cheaper and they have a contingency-whatever it is.
The New Goodyear Eagle RS DOT Autocross tire info:
The new Goodyear Eagle RS DOT AC compound tire was designed for autocross with feedback from some of the top autocrossers in the country. The development of this tire started in 2008. Tires had been sent out to me (Jeff Kiesel) to arrange testing to ensure this tire was faster then the Hoosier A6. The initial tests the tires were very close in time to the Hoosier A6, but we decided to hold off the launch and further develop the tire to jump ahead of the competition. This testing was done by 5 SCCA National Champions with multiple titles in various classes.
Our last two testing days showed the following:
Pros:
Goodyear RS had faster cold lap times then the Hoosier A6
Goodyear RS handles the heat better and maintains grip better at high temperatures than the Hoosier A6
Goodyear RS is easier to keep at the traction limit and inspires more driver confidence than the Hoosier A6
Goodyear RS had lower lap times on both concrete and asphalt surfaces than Hoosier A6
Goodyear RS showed a high level of consistent performance over a number of runs up until cording, indicating a longer competitive life than [/COLOR]Hoosier A6
Goodyear RS clearly had better launch off the line and forward bite on course then the Hoosier A6
Cons:
Goodyear RS had a slightly slower initial turn in then Hoosier A6, this required some adjustments in the car set up
Goodyear RS did pick up more rubber and rocks than Hoosier A6
Misc Notes:
Goodyear RS all cars tested had more body roll from the increased grip, adjustments might need to be made to optimize performance
Goodyear RS all cars tested picked up slight push from the increased grip, adjustments might need to be made to optimize performance
Sizes:
Initial sizes can be found at http://www.racegoodyear.com/tires/spo.... More key sizes important to Solo competitors are being developed.
For prices or to order tires call one of the Goodyear Distributers or Jim Doughty at 602 437 4977
For car set up information on the New Goodyear RS e-mail fd_racer@yahoo.com (Jeff Kiesel)
And Yes there is contingency, a page is under development with all of the information on contingency (this is for the whole Goodyear Tire line up, not just the new DOT tires).
