Great track day at Laguna Seca (Jan 19th)

Awesome track day at Laguna Seca with great weather and people. It was nice to meet you Tony (Red RX-8 with #07) and the guy with the silver RX-8 (sorry forgot your name)! The RX-8 handled so well that my instructor thought I supercharged or fixed up my engine. He insisted that I open my engine hood to check it out only to find out it's complety stock with the exception of MS suspension and RB catback and RP supercat. It handled so well that he and his friend which also an instructor to get a RX-8. My instructor (Dennis) used to race for Mazda, he said he has 10 1st gen. RX-7.

This is my second time on the track but i managed to hang with M3s and STI. I got promoted from HPDE 1 to 2 because I was going too fast and it wasnt' fun getting stuck behind slow cars. I have been to track day 6 or 7 times, but I never heard an instructor said "Good Pass!" like I was racing. I passed a guy on the APEX when he missed it. I made a lot of passing that would be only allowed in HPDE 4, but my instructor allowed it. I thought I was going to be blackflag for some of the moves that I made.

Found a video of me on youtube.com passing a S2000 (see video @ 00:44). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAv14...eature=related

Also, uploaded a video of me taking Turn 11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr1oLFFf0ts

Tony with red RX-8: I got some pics of you. PM me for them.

Hope to see more RX-8 on the track in the future, so we can convice more instructors to buy them!

Hey Will, finally found time to visit the forum. It was indeed a great day!! Laguna is an absolutely fantastic track!!! Too bad we didn't run in the same group. Would've been interesting to see how our 8's matched up. Good job though.
My biggest mistake was signing up for only Saturday. I'm trying to decide on whether to do Infineon or not...may just go to Button or Willow instead.

Dennis was cool. He wanted to know what I'd done to my car as well. Probably surprised at how well it was running. I was impressed too

Let me know when you're doing another NASA day and which group. I've also got some pics of your car. When I get them uploaded I'll send you an invite.
