How fast were you driving? Did you use cruise? Have you passed 5th grade math? I only wish I could see MPG in the 20's?

Most of the trip was 75-85 mph, TX now has a 80mph speed limit.

Over $4 for super many places in the Bay Area

The inefficiency of the rotary is amazing. In the type of use you described, my Z06 would be getting right at 30mpg!

east & mid TX has 93 octane, it drops to 91 octane once you get above a certain elevation in the western part of the state

and desolate TX interstate west of San Antonio (I-10) is 80 mph during daylight hours, the one thing that does suck there is the night speed limit drops 5 mph over the daylight limit

Try 15 mph drop. Day 80 mph night 65 mph. I used every minute of daylight.

Is your car getting better MPG now then when it was new? Do you feel like it's faster now with 30K on it then when it was new?

Gets the same. MPG has not been a big issue for us and we do not seem to use much oil. When we ran the track day I think I used half as much oil as mp5 in his 2004.

How does it feel? Well like a big fat Miata, just like when we got it.

My RX8 also doesn't burn much oil...at least not as much as I was led to expect!

MPG isn't bad, compared to my Winnebago, but is ridiculous for a car of the RX8's capabilities. Unfortunately, the gas mileage may prove to be too much for the rotary to overcome in the marketplace, longer term...which is too bad, they are interesting motors. I still prefer a pushrod V8, though
