May have found my passion...
I went to my very first autocross event today. It was a school/test and tune put on my our local corvette club. I had a total blast. The course was set up for by a vette club, so there weren't as many twisties as the 8 probably would have preferred, but it was fun anyway. Luckily there were only about 50 cars, and maybe 15 of those running per heat. I ended up getting close to 20 runs. I started at 52-53 seconds plus 2-3 cones per run. By the end I was running low 48's clean, so I feel pretty good about that. To give some perspective, a Z06 was running 42's. I can't wait til the next event.
I need to check the car over, as I swear I hear some bumps and noises that I didn't hear before. And I seem to have picked up a MIAC kind of sound only around 3800 rpm. Oh well, I suppose these kinds of things are to be expected.

Congrats! I did driving school and my first autocross this weekend as well. My wife and I are both hooked and will be prepping for the next event.
Here's some crappy vids of my later runs (slower than in the morning):

I've been following the aftermath thread on xceed. I would have loved to come but the wife had other plans already. Next week is spoken for as well. I'm planning to hit the May 23rd AROC event, but I don't see it on myautoevents.com yet.
I can't wait to see some other 8's in action.
Are you running in CS? I'm stock except for a swaybar.
Kunundra: That looks like a fun course. Now that I've actually gotten out on a course, all these youtube videos make so much more sense

Yeah, I run TCS (Street Tire CS). Boyd runs CS, Kenneth runs TBSP (closest thing Council has to STX, and where your car would fall). I didn't get a chance to meet the R3 owner, and that was the first time I saw him out, but he ran TCS as well.
AROC doesn't post their events to MyAutoEvents.com. Keep an eye on xceed or the official dcscc website for updates to their events.
Don't mind the poor driving, the cobwebs are coming off slowly this year:

Hi Pendleton,
As burglar mentioned, I'm also in the area and would love to see more RX-8's out there (though the 4 we got this weekend was pretty impressive). It's a shame that you're missing next week's event, as it looks like there won't be any more for a few weeks especially if the SCCA Season Opener doesn't happen on 5/9. Depending on where you're located in SE MI, you could also consider attending Northwest Ohio Region's events like the one at the Toledo Express Airport on 5/16.
Anyway, if you see my white car out at any events you go to, stop by and say hi!
