Mazdaspeed Motorsports sponsored HDPE
On behalf of Mazdaspeed Motorsports and their factory drivers, we are organizing a Mazda high performance driving event exclusively for Mazda enthusiasts. Some of you guys probably know Marlon and me from the Mazdaspeed corrals that we set up for Mazda enthusiasts across the country wherever and whenever Mazdaspeed is racing. Now, we are working with Mazdaspeed for an HDPE weekend in appreciation of fans of Mazda and Mazdaspeed Motorsports.
For two days, professional racing drivers who race under the Mazdaspeed Motorsports banner will provide classroom instruction and coaching to participants. Food will be provided. Also we plan to give away event t-shirts.
Pirelli is also on board as a sponsor and they'll have some give-aways. Roar Racing and Meyer Motorsports are joining us with their KONI Challenge ST RX-8's, and we have received our budget from Mazdaspeed for the event.
If we pull this off, this will become a national event that will be held during Spring/Summer of 2009 - with the country being divided up in to 3-4 different regions. So if you have a serious interest in learning how to drive on road courses from some of the best drivers, please sign up below.
So here is the information regarding the event. Please note, that this is subject to change.
When: October 11-12, 2008
Where: BeaveRun Motorsports Park, PA
Time: 7:00AM-6:00 PM (tentative)
Cost: $150 (tentative)
If you are serious about attending, then please sign up ASAP so I can show Mazdaspeed Motorsports how many committed owners from RX8club we have. As far as price, we are certain that the cost will remain @ around $150 for the event. I doubt that we will allow split days, as we will have more than enough participants at this point to fill the event. Remember, that the fee includes course instruction/coaching, breakfast, lunch and an event t-shirt as well. So let me start off by being the first to sign up.

Sorry, no. Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development is offering this exclusive event to show its appreciation to loyal Mazda owners and to promote the Mazda/Mazdaspeed brand at the same time.
Whoops, didn't see that post by my friend. Moderators, close this thread please.
Um - should we keep this all in one thread?

I would love to have this at VIR on the Grand Course.
First, though, I'd love to hear the Mazdaspeed Motorsports' stance on warranty tracking with these events. Since it's not "racing" (typically defined as a competitive or timed event), there shouldn't be an issue. The warranty book makes no mention of merely driving on a race track as an issue, just "racing".

I don't have that information yet, but will communicate that as soon as I get it.
Apologies for the lack of updates lately, because we're currently planning a big Mazdaspeed corral at Road America which is a week away.
The only update I have is that Ben Devlin and Gerardo Bonilla of B-K Motorsports are planning on attending the event.

As always if you drive your car like a retard, whether on a track or on the road, Mazda can determine that you have exceeded allowable use and void specific parts of your warranty. In addition if you 'track' your car, meaning you modify it with aftermarket parts in an effort to track prepare your car, that also can void parts of your warranty. Of course if you are planning on really racing your car Mazda offsets the lack of warranty by discounting parts for your race prepared ride and making parts that otherwise aren't available available. But they do have pretty strict guidelines on what you have to do to qualify.
If you're really worried about it call your dealership and ask what their policy is. Just don't tell them it's you since most dealerships are going to be less understanding of driving on track conditions.
While we're at it keep in mind that most insurance companies do have specific policies related to HPDEs. Some will not cover if there are incidents in a HPDE and some will. It's worth it to review your policy to determine whether or not you are covered. There are places that will cover you for the weekend if you want it or if you plan on doing this regularly then you may want to look at changing your policy or moving to a new provider.

8 hours to VIR
4 hours to Lime Rock Park
7 hours to Cleveland, then on to Mid-Ohio.
The previous season I was at the races at Sebring, FL; Watkins Glen, NY; Lime Rock Park (twice), and Mid-Ohio.
It's tough being a race paddock junkie.
