Mitsubishi voiding warranty for autox'ing
Link claims Mitsubishi is websurfing and voiding warranties on Lancer Evolution models for autocrossing. thread link here.
I wonder if Mazda is doing the same? Anyone have warranty work denied?

Let me preface this by saying that this is speculation. I am not positive either way but my mechanic told me the same thing. He had asked me if I had been to the track and I told him no.
He said it was a good thing I had not gone because it would void my warranty. I was like WTF. He said that in almost all new cars, there is a clause in the warranty information that says that the warranty is only good for use on the street. If the car is used off-road it voids the warranty.
He also said that the dealers can tell when the car's are at the track by running water over the windows. Apparently the stuff used to put the #'s on the windows does not get completely removed and can still be seen if you run water over the windows. If they notice this then they call the local tracks to see if the car has been registered there. If so, they can refuse to work on the car.
Please don't flame me for this post. I am just passing on information that was given to me by my personal mechanic who goes to the track every weekend. I'm not sure if it is true or not but this is what he told me. Can anyone confirm or rebut this?

If Mazda or Subaru found out you raced you car at the track or strip, depending on the person that finds out, you would be in the same boat as any Mitsubishi owner. It just seems Mitsubishi may be going to extremes to find out who's racing.

As I said in the linked thread.
Mazda are promoting the RX8 in the UK with a free (safety biased) track day AND promoting the car on TV with formula women, a begginers/women only race series (in almost stock cars).
I've heard of Mistu and subaru amongst others (BMW etc) voiding warrenty for tracking, but I cant see mazda doing it in the UK/europe at least.

Mazda actually pays contingency to cars for national level Auto-x. They (corporate) know what it's about! See also: *cough* Mazda Rev It Up *cough* If denied for auto-x, I would go above anyones head that told you locally and have them give a good reason they cancelled it.
Auto-x is not the same as track days, or drag racing.
Aven Subaru is on board with the SCCA and things are looked at on a case by case basis. Track? Maybe. Drag Race? No way. Auto-x? Good shot at being covered.
