My 1/4 mile adventure!!
OK so I went to the track tonight (LACR) www.lacr.net ...and I was unhappy with my results!
I had 5 runs. these were my best 2.
Rear tires were @ 20 psi
ACTUAL ADJUSTED (sea level)
15.568 @ 88.840mph 15.101 @ 91.505mph
15.581 @ 89.805mph 15.114 @ 92.499mph
I’m running a canzoomer and a midpipe...I really don’t think I was launching well at all..besides reaction time.. I was told that it didn’t matter if you got a .133 or a .599 when you start moving is what counts right?? Or does my reaction time cut into my ET so I should be .5sec quicker??? This was my first time ever running at a track and it kinda sucked.. The track felt allot more slick then the road!!! Big time!! And I think I was spinning my wheels too much.. I was launching between 5-7K and dumping the clutch.. Anyways on my way home there was a Z350 he pulled up next to me and got even with me and rolled down his window.. So I rolled my down too.. Then he leaped forward so I got on the gas.. he pulled away pretty good.. then my street was coming up and I got in the right lane(from the middle) and what do ya know... the light turned red... I HAD TO.. so I got back in the middle lane.. I asked him if he was stock? he said yea.. He either had rims or powder coated his stockers black.. I told him I had chip and midpipe.. Then after a few seconds the light turned red.. I launched about 5K. got a little sideways and I was off. He got a good launch too and jumped ahead. My nose was just behind his front wheel. then he shifted and I jumped ahead. he was about @ my front wheels and I was pulling ever so slightly.. :D I was in 3rd for a few seconds then I let off because I didn’t want to go any faster.. .. LOL so I don’t under stand why I’m running 15's @ the track but I can beat a Z350... (barely) any ways I turned around and came home..
So I don’t understand why im running so slow? a Z runns in the low 14's

The funny part is, this is the same guy whose GTech told him he was doing 0-60 in 5.5 seconds.
LOL. I hate to be the one to say it, but I told you so. Guess you can GTrash it now. :D

I think it sounds like you need to perfect your launch. Your car as stated will get a little faster with some age to it. I personally have never launched my car but if I was going to play at the drag strip I personally would upgrade my clutch before I did a bunch of 5-7K drops. It was your first time at the strip just keep practicing your technique.
As for the z he probally didn't have a very good launch if he launched at all.
Also can I ask when you use your Gtech what weight are you entering for the car? Are you accounting for yourself, gas, etc. Also do you configure it everytime before using it? It is very easy to get incorrect data from a Gtech if you are not accurate with what you enter.

Haha, I hadn't realized. This is my favorite quote...
"If you knew anything about a Gtech u would know that it very accurate. Like dmp said, a strip cant measure 0-60 times.. but i do plan on taking it to a track... and WATCH OUT.. cuz my times will reflect the same thing."

Also wanted to add, at least RX8INCH had the guts to post his 1/4 mile times after not getting the results he expected. That's more than a can say for a lot of people that say they're going to the strip and will post times but then never do so.

You can do alot better then that just because you hit 15's does it mean your car slow its all in the driver and that perfect launch.I hit the same thing with a broken tranny and 19 inch rims.Hopefully before the winter comes i will be heading back to the track and try my luck.I should be able to hit 13 with no problem aaaa big should

I am thinking that maybe his Canzoomer is the possible problem, not the launch. It looks like his 60ft was 2.3 which ain't that bad. He should either retune the CZ, or take it off and go back to stock and see if that solves anything.

Just to play devils advocate, but could the ECU have intervened from the time when the 5.5 0-60 was posted (which really was 5.9 when you look at the graph in that thread) to when the 16sec quarter was posted? The canzoomer isn’t the in/out override computer that the interceptor is. Maybe that would help explain the results?
EDIOT NOTE: sorry 15.5 sec quarter.

I was told from the guy that it was a custom map thats in the CZ.. I dont have a laptop.. im hopin for my b-day i can save up the $ to get one.. and ill dyno the car and make see what map gives me the best results.. I havent reset the computer since my midpipe install..
As for the quote about my 0-60 times being reflected in my 1/4 mile times.. I do need to reset me g-tech because the 12" rollout that someone pointed out is ****.. I thought i was getting 5.5 but i wasnt.. Im not tryin to be all hard like my cars the ****.. or brag about it.. Just honestly thought that it was cool i got a 5.5.. and I still think that G-tech is accurate tho!
As for posting my 1/4 times after i said that.. I have nothin to hide.. and i am begin to think somethin was up with that 350...
a buddy of mine has a 93ish civic HB with a B20B(CRV) engine and V-tech heads.. intake, exhaust, and LSD.. he kicked my butt in the long run.
Still love the car!!!
