In other news, I have finally confirmed that Greg is just pulling numbers out of his *** when it comes to dyno reclasses. A competitor in E (where the Miata is) has an NB which is a better chassis. His reclass is only 1HP lower than mine but he gets 20lbs lower min weight even with the better chassis.
I'm glad to announce that I'm going to big bore with the RX8 so I don't have to deal with his bullshit.
In my region, TT3 is stacked and fast. TT2 has almost nobody in it, and TT1 is all corvettes. BUT they are slower than TT3 haha. So I'm gonna try and beat up on them.
Plan for TT1:
420WHP
2700lbs
-0.1 for weight bracket
+0.3 for two rotor single turbo
-0.2 dog engagement transmission
-0.7 non dot slicks
I have to check calculations again but I think that's close to the 5.5lbs/hp adjusted power to weight ratio.

That's a crazy low target hot pressure for the Miata you got there.... The MR2 I'm starting at 30-31 cold with R6s.
Source of takeoffs says they do 30-31 cold, aim for 36-38 hot pressure. May shoot there and see what happens.
btw - I get 5.729 adjusted with your numbers/factors above. If it were me I'd look at mid-range tire width and a bit more power. 10.5" is still a ton of slick, and would put you at 2700/450 to hit 5.600 adjusted. Talk about rocketship.

I only need one point to be able to use R6s - right now, using them would push me to TTC. These Ventus TD I'm using are weird, especially the grip delta between cold and hot. They are supposed to be a bit grippier than NT01s but these first few events, I feel like I'm ice skating instead.
Maybe I should just go back to NT01s.

how many points would you need to drop in 245 A6s instead. There's no way I can use the entire stream these guys have coming off the cars... though the fact that they at least think they are not desirable tires is what makes them cheap. Hmm.

We are also running a 15x9" wheel with the 225. This increases sidewall stiffness as well and is good for almost a second over 15x7" with the same tire. For you I'm guessing you'll want somewhere around 32 to 34 hot. If you have a pyrometer though you'll figure it out sooner or later.

Finally got a chance to run on the dyno today. Car is stock with fresh wires, plugs, 2.5'' straight through to a $30 summit muffler.
Numbers were 169, 170, and 173hp on a dynojet. I disabled the TCS/DSC manually but did not pull the ABS fuse. The car freaked out for a few seconds and then seemed to run normally with the ABS light on. The light went off after driving for a hundred yards or so. I'm hoping the power is low enough and weight high enough to compete in TTE this year. Car gets weighed tomorrow, I'm estimating it'll come in around 3300lbs with me in it.
Should I be concerned that the dyno numbers were with the ABS light on and not with the ABS/DSC fuse pulled?

I would think if the system interfered (went off) it would be noticeable. Just an educated guess.
I have just turned traction control off by pushing the button down for a few seconds and have never felt ABS going off.

Also 3300lbs with driver would be like GT model with leather and nav, bone stock.
If you want to know now, email greg asking for TTE base class with a maximum HP limit of 178WHP and find out what your minimum weight would be. I'm not even sure if they will let you do that with a TTD base class car... the only way I know of to get a TTD base class down to E is to run skinnier all season tires so that it ends up as a negative points evaluation and you end up in E by the skin of your teeth, while being nowhere near competitive.

You're well above the car's listing at 3045lbs, may be enough to drop an asterix or too
Season Championships can in certain cases be more about showing up the most often. I look more at amount of track records that are set and held to gauge competitiveness. Not to say that either is a perfect measure though.
And in the end I'd take being in a populated TTE class over 1st of 1 in TTD. Say no to classturbation!

Okay, weighed the car today. She came in quite a bit lighter than I hoped:
RX8 GT 6MT -cat, -muffler,-engine covers
13.5'' ride height all around
Empty (-6.6gal (41lb) from full tank):
LF 761 820 RF
LR 718 654 RR
Total: 2954lb
+257lb driver:
LF 870 833 RF
LR 804 705 RR
Total: 3212 lb, 3252 lb w/ full tank, 3170 lb w/ minimum comp fuel weight
Cross: 51.0% RF+LR
Left: 52.1%
Rear: 47.0%
So, 3170-25 lbs driver weight reduction - 10lbs margin of error = 3135 lbs min comp weight.
Mods are:
Shocks +3
Springs +2
Bars +2
Z214 C71 +10
Exhaust +2, -2 for reclass so +0.
Tires 225, -4 for TTD, -1 for TTE
Total:
+13 TTD or +16 TTE

the ex-TTA/PTA Corvette guys used to say if you weren't using max ballast you were going to be slow. The amount of total weight is important, but it's location is also important. Front to back, side to side, close to the ground... that matters too.
Your exhaust points are wrong (sb +3), not that it matters if you're getting a reclass tho.
I just don't see how that's going to be a TTE car with those numbers.

Car 1 at 3000lb min weight and 0lbs ballast
Car 2 at 3000lb min weight and at the max allowed 250lbs ballast
All else equal, which do you think would be faster?

Alright, folks. After spending many hours getting the new engine running properly, it was time for a reclass. Here's the result I just got from GregG:
Base class: TTC*
Base tire size: 255mm
Max HP: 235
Min Weight: 2880
(I hate the star)

Dyno showed 232 at one point but it was consistently around 230.
Last time I ran through the scales, we were at 2,906 lbs with plenty of gas, so 2,880 is okay.
I still feel I got screwed with that star (I'm sure everyone in a reclass feels the same way)

But yeah... the reclass system is 9000% bullshit lol. You just have to roll with the punches...
just recently I've seen some reclasses from Greg that have wild variations from person to person, even with almost identical cars.

Check out this new contingency... I'll be doing it in the Miata since TTE here usually only has about 3 people. At least I can win some tires now.
Sizes are kind of limited but they are a +7 and supposed to be a hair faster than an NT01 with about the same lifespan.
