Need help with my STU Setup??

B Stock was fun but now its time to play with the big boys. How's does this sound for a STU setup?

K-Sport Coilovers front 10kg/560 rear 5kg/280
Agency Power Sways and endlinks
Agency Power Pulley
17x9.5 +35mm offset SSR Comp H w/ 275-40-17 Falken RT 615's or Yoko Neovas.

Does anyone know if these SSR's fit our 8's?

Yokohama doesn't make a 275/40-17 Neova.

If you haven't bought the wheels already, I'd suggest going with lighter and less expensive 18x9.5 Enkei RP-F1s with a set of 265/35-18 or 285/30-18 Neovas.

So how is going to a slower class that is only now getting natl status playing with the big boys?

That sounds like a start but that is only a fraction of what you need to do if you want to run with those big boys.... You got about $10k to burn?

The guys with 18X9.5s are on a 45mm offset, being that the 17" tire will be taller you might have issues with a 35mm offset.

Sorry to see you go, Tim. Guess that re-match will never happen, as long as outlandish STU pax is in effect. Doug in Philly SCCA is STU, with probably more to join next year. Have fun and good luck!

ULLOSE,

What front bar do you use in B Stock? If I decide to stay Stock I was looking @ the Agency Power for adjustability or just upgrading the stock bushings on my stock bar.

RT 615 275-40R17 Diameter is 25.6"
255-40R17 Diameter is 25"
225-45R18 Diameter is 25.9"
245-40R18 Diameter is 25.6"

I have the MazdaSpeed front bar, only about 12-15% stiffer than stock. You can just drill an extra hole in your bar and get some poly bushings to make it a little stiffer. The AP may be near the TeamRX8 bar spec but only TRX8 knows for sure.

Tire Size Sidewall Diameter Circumference Rev/Mile Difference
225/45-18 4.0 in. 25.97 in. 81.59 in. 777 0.0% stock oem
245/35-18 3.4 in. 24.75 in. 77.76 in. 815 -4.7% B stock V710
275/40-17 4.3 in. 25.66 in. 80.62 in. 786 -1.2% STU
265/35-18 3.7 in. 25.30 in. 79.49 in. 797 -2.6% STU

35mm offset will require flattening the rear wheel well lip (STU legal) or else it will rub, I rubbed with 38mm & 265 Advans (Enkei mistakenly put 38mm offset in boxes marked 45mm, 45mm fits without rubbing))

I'd recommend the 18 x 9.5 x 45mm Enkei RPF1s from Goodwin Racing fitted with 265/35-18 Advan Neova, or alternatively the Bridgestome RE01-R tire, the Falkens cost less but aren't as good, highest finishing Falken was 23rd place in STU at Nationals this year

I still have to pass my STU proposal up the chain of command (wife) . If I have to spend a !@#$load of cash I will be staying B Stock and re-match is on.

I think $10K is way past begging for forgiveness .....you had better slash your wrists at that point , and hope she takes you to the hospital before you bleed out

Can you tell a difference with the Mazdaspeed Bar being only 15% stiffer?

If I go with the A/P Front Bar (more push since its 69% stiffer I think) I would guess that I would have to go full stiff in the rear with the Koni's and probably take out some rear alignment to prevent understeer. Any thoughts ?

When I have driven my vs others back to back, both cars with about the same alignment and shock settings, mine with the bar puts power down better.

I have only driven a car with a bigger bar than the MS once and did not care for it. I am sure TRX8 can clue you in as to how they deal with the big front bar.

As it is stock is not cheap by any means.... Once you leave stock for any other class the numbers go way up and the street-ability of your car will go way down.

For me there is no way I way spend more money than I do now to go the same speed or slower. If I were going to leave stock it would be for Street Mod with some forced induction. At least that way when I **** away a bunch of money I get a faster car.
