New BS Light Wheels Thread

That's true. Especially when C5Zs got to be used. That's won over a lot of former import guys. Makes more sense than most of what's going on in this forum over in "Major Horsepower". But if it wasn't for gold chains and white leather, it would be hard to talk trash to those guys. And there's still enough truth to it if you go to anywhere that Corvette owners are hanging out with other Corvette owners because they're Corvette owners.
End threadjack.

The C6 also just seems to be moving the truth of what a "Corvette owner" is farther away from the stereotype.

Here's the contingency program that Jimmy at Fuji-Racing is doing for STS2 cars with Rotas purchased through him:
Now for the ST Class I will be offering 15 x 7.5 ROTA SLIPSTREAMS for contingency. The wheels have to have been purchased from FujiRacing.
This will be good for the Natl. tour events:
$50.00 for first place in Solo 2 Tour events.
$500.00 National Championship 1st place
$250.00 2nd place in the Final.
$100.00 3rd place.
Can't say that's what he's going to offer the B-stock guys, but it will probably be similar.
He's finalizing pricing right now for the P1 and I'll let you know as soon as I hear from him.

You asked for pics, here ya go:
And just for comparison this is a picture of the V710s (left) compared to the Z214 (right) that I ran at the end of last season. The Hankook has a rounded edge like the Kumho, but not quite as much. It also looks like it might be a couple mm wider:

^I'm going to guess they are right in the high 18's/low 19's ballpark...just because the casting and visual mass are so similar to other stuff out there in that range...I know, that's a b.a.g. (blind axx guess), but I'll bet it's close to the truth...on the other hand, they are black, so maybe they're super light, besides being super cool

Mark -
The current estimate we have from Tanabe is late April/early May arrival in our warehouse. These are new mold, first runs, so until we have notification that they are on the water, I would emphasize the "estimated" part.
The sample wheel that we have in house is 18"x 9", et35 it's 18.8lbs.

I saw these wheels in person at the Dixie NT on Wells' (NeoTuri) RX-8 and I must say they look sharp!
Btw, I love your former gold *bling* Thomas. Thanks again - I won't be repainting these wheels bronze. Gold looks awesome!

Thanks to everyone who gave input regarding the P1s and the Z214s.
FWIW, I think I have the first set of Hankook Z214 C71 275/35/18s. They are mounted on a new set of bling bling Time Attack Rota P1s. Here are a few pics comparing them to my old corded set of 245/35/18 V710s mounted on OEM rims.
Other measurements:
245/35/18 V710 on OEM rims
-Diameter: (mine are corded)
-Width: 9.375"
-Tire price: $271 each
275/35/18 Z214 C71 on Rota P1s
-Diameter: 25.625"
-Width: 10.125"
-Tire price: $238 each
My installer also sacrificed one rim (not mine) in the learning process of mounting the 275 C71 kooks.

Are you using the "Kook for BS? Keep an eye on the outside shoulder, since we are seeing pronounced valley developing between inner 2/3 tread (inside edge to outer tread groove), after 20 runs. The "Kook also likes high psi, 48/40 hot, on sweeper-intensive rough asphalt.
The turn-in ranks after Hoosier A6 (245) and V710 (245), though grip level is really a toss-up among all three.

Also, this weekend I'm going to use all the tips from this forum to try and get more camber and hopefully minimize my outside shoulder wear. My camber limited car got a lot of outside shoulder wear last year on V710s, especially on concrete. Sounds like it will be even worse on these 275 wide C71 kooks.
I got my Rota P1s for the same reason I got my C71 kooks. $$. My Rota P1s cost $676+tax from my local autox shop. If I'm ever nationally competitive, maybe I can rent a set of SSRs from you, ha!

I should clarify by saying it's the inner 2/3 wearing more than the outer 1/3. In other words, we have more tread left on the outer 1/3. We are running -2f/-1.8r, with C70.
