Wow. Somehow the 18x9s really are lighter than the 18x8s. That's pretty random. Wonder if the spokes are less concave or something to allow for less material. But a very, very nice find.

Hey Broda

How are those RP03? I'm thinking they will be my wheel of choice for STX.

Not sure yet. They were special order from Japan and had to take the slow boat across the Pacific. I expect to have them in a week or two and will post a pic when they arrive.

Our first autocross event is still more than a month away, so it will be a while before I get to test them out. I'll also post my impressions of the 265 Toyo R1R's after the first event.

Good deal - does this mean we can expect you in STX next year? I'll be curious to see what you differently the second time around...

Also, to answer headofdog's question from three months ago, the RP03's are great.

I would rather go to DSP, but I suspect Stock won't be an RX-8 playing ground after this year

DSP would be fun. But I hate the idea of being in a class that lets you pull A/C. What can I say, I still have to drive my car on the street. In George's universe, there would be a class called STXR...

17x9 rpf1's are on sale at 1010 tires for less than 220/each.

Chris,

If you are out there:

Does tirerack do price-matching?

Since the website refuses to let you see wheels based on size, what other wheels does tirerack have in the 17x9 et35 to 45 size?

Thanks.

+1 Also throw in 18x9" wheels as well. Any TR Motorsports wheels that might be suitable?

I still want to consider both 17" and 18" wheels at this point.

Man, I talked to the wrong guy, I guess. I emailed back and forth with somebody from Tire Rack for over a week and they couldn't find anything in the size I wanted (17x9). They certainly couldn't send me a list of the wheels that fit my criteria. I only found out about the Weds TC005s they had from a member here - otherwise the Tire Rack guy wasn't even going to tell me about them, even though they fit my needs perfectly.

I'm happy with the TC005s, by the way. They do scratch easily and they're a pain in the *** to clean, but they're light and they were cheap.

I am sure the average guy on the phones has a very tight criteria he must adhere to for liability reasons. Chris and John are racers, and understand our needs.

The next time I buy a set of wheels, I guess I'll have to contact one of them, then.

I would think those SSRs and Weds would go quick at those prices.

Other than you have to use those stupid JDM tuner lugs.

And the empty holes that let you see the rusty brake rotor are lame. But it is hard to ignore that insane price.
