Poking around for a new car....
Long time since I made a real post on here, but I was shooting around the idea of a new bimmer and like the idea of posting here....
Don't know how much auto-x I will be able to do, but I will be in the DC area for a bit and it would be fun to show up with something competitive.
Why is the 135i relegated to DS, is it the lack of LSD holding it back?
Also seems like a STU prepped 135i might be a silent underdog, don't know what kinda power your can make without touching boost, but just some half-***'d goggling results with being able to run 18x10 in the rear and 18x9s up front with a fender roll.
Thoughts...?
Also anyone think that the E90 M3 might get the downgrade to A-Stock anytime soon?
Other options include a Z4 M Coupe... just don't think i could live with a 2 seater day to day.

the 135 is still pretty heavy compared to other STU cars, and won't be able to put its power down nearly as well. it will need all of the 285 tire allowance, and i don't know if 9" wheels will be enough wheel for 285 street tires. interested to see how that one does, though.
E90 M3 in AS (assuming you mean the "new" AS, and not the class that was renamed BS for 2010)...not unless people start running them where they are now. i doubt members would want a $60k+ potential overdog thrown into a new (and apparently very popular) class.
if you want something competitive, a new BMW is probably not the way to go. i can't think of any class in which a BMW is the car to have. maybe STX in an E36, but those are (obviously) not even close to new. in Stock classes, 2-seaters are where it's at, unless you want to run an RX-8 in CS or a sedan class like DS, GS, or HS. there's the Shelby Mustang for FS.
if you want "4 seats and competitive," just buy or build an STI or Evo for STU. easy to find, easy to build. if you have a ton of money burning a hole in your pocket and want to be adventurous, build an Evo X or a new STI for STU.

Now that I've gotten it back to its typical running condition and on some smooth suburban streets, I've had some second thoughts too. I really just need something more effective at schmoozing clients and dropping panties, its a sad and superficial world we live in. Not all of us can.... wait a second what is it that you do again...

Would like to keep with 07-08 or newer. 07 base 911 Carrera is on the table.
Was unaware of the new class system, I thought it would fit better in the now BS against the S2000 (rather then in SS where it was). Whose the favorite to dominate that new AS class in your humble opinion?

BMW M3 (‘08-‘10)
BMW Z4 M Coupe/Roadster (‘06-‘08)
Chevrolet Corvette (‘97-‘04, C5 chassis, non-Z06)
Lexus IS-F (‘08-‘10)
Lotus Esprit Turbo (‘96-‘04)
Mazda RX-7 (‘93-‘95)
Mercedes C63 AMG
Porsche 911 (‘98-‘04, 996 chassis)
Porsche Boxster S (‘05-‘08)
Porsche Cayman S (‘05-‘08)
my money is on the C5 FRC, although i think the 911, Cayman, and RX-7 have a decent shot as well. some speculation is here:

I'm still rubbish as a driver.
Tony Savini (08 GS ProSolo Champ) was the class leader with a 40.445 and I a 44.944. He's in a 1999 Corvette FRC.
Anyone think I left 4.5 seconds out there with a non-rubbish driver, some R-Comps, front sway and some dampeners?
Oh and yes, the sad and superficial world we live in has put me in an E90 M3.

How about having him drive your car and seeing what kinds of times he can lay down? If he could get within two seconds of his Corvette time, then that would be promising.

Smart clients/business people won't give a **** what you drive and if your too flashy it could hurt you depending on your clientele. I know guys driving S600's that can barely keep up with the payments.
I would say a Cayman S would be a good bet but have you thought about an Audi?

And BTW rumor mill says they are going back to a turbocharged V-or-Inline 6 for the next generation.
