The launch technique that seems to work the best for me is to avoid the 7K rpm clutch drops the magazines like to portray. First, push and hold the "DSC" button on the dash for more than 5 seconds. That will disable the computer controls. Then, I usually do an aggressive launch from 4K. With proper clutch feathering you should be able to control the wheelhop and not burn the clutch. To aid traction even further, consider a set of Racing Beat, or similar, swaybars. Play with your tire pressure also. 32 psi during daily-driving and 40 psi in a performance situation is what works for me. However, I also have a number of other performance parts on my 8. Take a look around at the several posts which discuss different issues and you'll learn a lot. The members and regular contributors of this forum have been instrumental in my educational process re: the RX-8.
