How about go-karting? Won't go-karts be an even better learning tool for racing at least for certain classes? Given the same amount of budget, go-karts can be made a lot faster in acceleration and cornering than a Spec Miata.

For now I'm just going to work on building a competitive TTD car but when it's time to go racing I'll likely be shopping for an E36 or 46 M3 race car ultimately. At this point for me the 8 is slow enough to necessitate good driver skills development to be fast but fast enough to be a little scary at times. A good blend I'd say.

I think a good discussion with the Mother's Rx8 Race Team in NASA would be beneficial.
