Removing old decals tech
I finally got around to washing the car (first time since SD Tour ) and removing the SCCA required and Mazdaspeed decals this afternoon.
First, the MS decals came off easily. You may have to pay for them, but they are great decals...good color, pliable and easily removed.
Second, the SCCA decals, particularly the Solo II and my large regional SFR, left an enormous amount of adhesive. I was smart enough to ask someone with experience at our event today (thanks Stuart, aka Cooper47) what to use, knowing I was probably going to be fighting residual adhesive, and 3M adhesive cleaner was the reccomendation. With a little elbow grease, the large amount of adhesive was all gone. This stuff is so much better than other brands (liike Goo be Gone)...well worth the $12 investment. I'll bet it's also good at removing cone marks, but I didn't have any to test on

you just didn't have them on there very long, they typically get brittle and come off in tiny pieces after they been on there several months, as long as you don't mind pulling and paying for them you won't have any trouble

The main point of the post is that the 3M Adhesive Remover is the shnizzit...

Yeah, it's a little like crack......Once you try it you'll have a hard time going back to anything else. You'll find yourself using it for all types of projects around the house. And yes, it works wonders on pylon marks.....

So apparently 3M has two types of adhesive cleaner in the market:
http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/e...er/output_html
and
http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/e...er/output_html
Is the second one, non-citrus-based type, the recommended choice? I have tried cleaner wax, brake cleaner, Plexus, and Goo-Gone, all with mixed resulted on pylon marks. Hope this is it.
What's your favorite source?
ps. The new small Kumho Tire decal was a major pain in the !@~ to remove, as it breaks apart. All decals should be put on magnets if you can, to save trouble/money.
