Renisis power

Hello,

In racing trim (straight throught exhaust, no power steering/AC/alternator), what is the expected power output of the Renisis motor (6port manual trans)?

Has anyone done any porting work to the motors and what can be expeced for power?

I have plans to use the motor in a non-Mazda chassis and I am familiar with the 2nd gen RX-7, NA 13B that I run now, but I have no experience with this newer motor.

Thanks,
B.

One of our members, Charles Hill, is getting porting done on his NA engine as we speak. We're all very curious for the results.

The best I've heard/read so far is that the Speedsource ST cars were getting ~260bhp on the Renesis with a 3" straight exhaust, a modified air intake and A/C delete/pulleys. Can't recall, but those engines may have ceramic seals.

Unless you're running something like a peripheral port on your current 13B, you'll find the Renesis to be more powerful NA.

they're using a MoTeC stand-alone ECU

there's at least one member here making about the same output (which the # you posted is not necessarilly correct) emissions legal with the Mazda ECU and an original unopened engine ....

I'm getting 225hp with the large streetport I have now with RB intake and big weber, custom headers and 3" exhaust ( no A/C,or PS) . I can get 260-270 by bridgporting the 4-port 13B I have in the garage, but I wanted to use the Renisis to get 300hp without too much work, but it may not be that easy.

here are some links for you to see what it is in:

Very cool, I remember reading that article in RXtuner. There's a member, Lasse Wankel, out of Sweden (I believe) that is working on a project to get 300bhp out of a NA renesis, maybe track down his posts.
