Renting a multi-car driver/trailer

Has anyone ever rent a driver and multi car trailer for track days or the national event half way across the country? With gas prices being $4 a gallon, it seems to make sense to "carpool". Just wondering if anyone has tried it and know how much it is roughly.

If you are paying a driver it wont be cost effective plus you still have to get there.

If you buy a trailer and own a diesel truck to pull it, it can be cost effective over the long term. With a 1 ton quad cab truck, you can pull a 3 axle 3 car trailer and still ride in style. Just make sure you have the correct drivers license. You wont need a commercial license if you dont make money and only haul your car or a friends car but you might need a class A non commercial which is very easy to get.

My Uncle once told me, "There are two types of people who race. Those who are wealthy and those who will soon be poor."

There are several places that offer transportation to and from national events. Usually it's a couple thousand dollars depending on when and where.

Never done it myself, but Bret at RP Performance (based at Summit Point) used to put together an 8 or 9 car full-size car hauler with driver for events at VIR and charged $400 or so round-trip. You could probably call or email him and get details.

What are you talking about? I've made a small fortune racing!

But yeah, I started with a large fortune...

Now that's a good rate, but then the drive is also 4 hours and I assume it is one day. It just seems stupid to have 5 guys driving 10-15 hours when you can rent one truck to do the trip, I guess the big trucks are expensive
