There's a good article in the August issue of Grassroots Motorsports on Robert Davis Racing and the six RX-8's (and 7 Miatas) they are campaigning in NASA's Performance Touring. They even have one with a Greddy turbo kit (no word how much smoke it blows...).

If you don't know who Robert Davis is, he's the man Mazda titles "Senior vice-president of product development and quality at Mazda North American Operations." In other words, this guy is in charge of what MNAO is going to sell us in the future, and he races RX-8s!

Interesting information to be found there. Stock transmissions, stock clutch, lots of camber, etc. I wonder if Mr. Davis is already on this forum, and if he isn't how can we get him on here and get him to share!

Robert Davis is a pretty cool dude ... we shared a cigar at the Mitty Road Atlanta one year, and I got a full sequence of pictures of him spinning the 4-rotor FC. I tried to use it as blackmail but he wasn't impressed. Before going out on track with the 4-rotor we were chatting and smoking our cigars, when he started taking his clothes off ... all the way down to his boxers. I was a bit taken back since he just started stripping with me having no idea why, until he put his driving suit on.

 

From the national level results I've been seeing in the Street Touring category this season...I'm not surprised.

 

He still runs Toyo though ....

 

fwiw the Hankook was a 225, while the rest were 205.
