If a RX8 can be engineered into a series, I'm sure the Elise / Exige can.

Remember that all these teams who enter cars into races are a diverse bunch. Some are factory owned and some are private. Apparently, neither the Lotus factory, nor some rich guy have decided they want to use a Lotus. I'd be surprised if they aren't used in some series in Europe.

They have a good top speed, reliable motor and quicker acceleration and handling.

How can they not compete in the GT series. Rolex or otherwise..

If I recall, Rolex GT cars can be built in two forms: one is more factory-derived (Carrera) and the other is more custom-built (most others). For all intents and purposes, the GTs are full-on, custom race cars. The DP cars are of course "All" custom- built.

But sure, with enough $$$ it can happen with pretty much any car. They raced 4-door Caddies (CTS-V, I think) last year. The officials do their best job to keep the cars equal via allowed engine/tire mods, etc. and will even add weight, etc mid-season if one make is "too" competitive.

And yes, Elises/Exiges have raced in Europe, Australia and I believe elsewhere in Asia.

Try to watch one of the FIA GT Championships on Speed. I have to TiVo them, but they are great. Have several cars that I think could/should be in the Rolex GT. Saleen S7, Jaguar, Masarati, Lamborgini, Ferrari, Noble, etc. They really are amazing. Shame how road racing is so much more popular in Europe than in the US. They air more DTM and British Touring car on Speed than the stuff in the US.
