Nice run
I haven't had a chance to take mine out to the track yet, that gives me a baseline to shoot for.

Something's wrong, my 92 Sentra SE-R with intake/header/17 degree timing bump ran a 9.0 @ 73 mph with a 1.8 60 foot a few years back. Are you really high elevation or something, the 60 foot looks good and E.T. is good but the trap seems way down. It's been a while since I've been to a strip though.

no........its just that in an rx8 1st and 2nd suck.......you dont stay in your power band untill 3rd gear so the 1/8 track is going to be high but you can still pull mid 14s in the quarter.........my friends magnum rt runs an 8.6 in the 1/8 but when we race on the street i catch up and pass him as soon as i get into 3rd and fourth gear.....magnum rts run mid 14's in the 1/4 as well.......most times ive seen for an rx8 in the 1/8th is high 9s to low10s.....so nothings wrong its just that every car is diff......the 8 is a high end car

im just saying that yeah second pulls harder, thats natural due to the gearing of cars......but in once you hit 3rd you are in your powerband the whole time so the eight accerates better than other cars with a lower power band that have similar 1/4 mile times.....like a wrx they win every time low end but on the highway the 8 will win

Nice run, man! Your 1/8 trap speed is lower than I would expect, but thats because your 1/8 ET and 60ft shows you were driving the shxt out of it!! Interesting you said that you hook better on the street than at the track. Must have been a test a tune night and they don't prep the track the same... that actually may be an advantage for the RX8, so you can launch at a pretty high RPM and not bog. In any case, good job! Keep chasing it, and I'd really like to see what you can do 1/4 mile!

What was your 60ft on the other run? If you got a 2.0x or 1.9x, I'd really be impressed.

I don't know if I quite understand your question, but your 1/8th et is how long it took you to go from a stop at the light till you cross the finish line.

Okay, so I'm not a guru compared to some, but I'll share what I know. ET is simply Elapsed Time. On your slip, you see 1/8 ET, 1000 ft ET and 1/4 ET... just the time it takes for you get to that distance. Trap speed is the MPH at those distances. The relationship of those two numbers is important to understand to tell how well you're doing compared to how well you car doing.

In general, ET measures how good a driver you are and how well you and your car can 60ft (launch). Trap speed (MPH) measures how fast a car you have and how much horsepower, even if your traction limited.

There are cars that are setup to ET very well and have sucky traps. There are cars that throw up some INSANE trap speeds and not ET worth a shxt for the MPH they post.

In the quarter, a stock RX8 can trap 95 MPH on a good run. If you trap 95 MPH, you can be sure that your car is making good HP, even if you don't ET 14.5 seconds. Mod it, and you'll increase the trap. Okay, so by trapping 95 MPH, you know that your car is capable of a 14.5, but maybe you haven't driven it well enough to get that ET, and you have to interpret your time slip to figure out where you can do better. Is it the 60 ft? Are you short shifting and missing out on power on the big end (the last 1/8 mile of the 1/4 mile)? You have to compare runs and slips and figure out what works.

So, "anybody can bang gears", as a friend of mine says who has 500 drag racing runs under his belt. The key is a fast launch technique, and shifting quick, not necessarily hard, at the right RPM. Fine tuning that can take a while but it seems like youre doing a great job so far.

Oh last thing about your reaction time....
It DOES NOT count in any of your ET's on the slip. It simply measures how long it took for you to launch after the green.

The lights are spaced .5 seconds apart. You left .8049 seconds after the green.
The trick is to leave when you see the last yellow light. If you actually see the green light, you waited waaaay too long. See what I mean?

If you red light, it's no big deal on test and tune night. Just delay a fraction of a second more after you see the last yellow until you get a good reaction time.

Yeah, I need lighter tires for 1/4 miles, I'm currently in the 17s with 19 inch rims

Reaction time has nothing to do with your E.T.
