SCCA Stock vs Showroom Stock

Can someone clarify the difference between SCCA Solo Stock and Showroom Stock classes.

Looking through the rule book, I can only find this reference: "Showroom
Stock cars may use tires which are eligible under current SS rules,
even if they are not eligible in Stock." I can't find any Showroom Stock rules.

Are you confusing BS with SSB? B-Stock is the class the RX-8 is in for SCCA Solo. When they say showroom stock in the solo rules that means stock class. There is also Showroom Stock B which is a club racing class.

Stock class autox gives you some slack with aftermarket parts like shocks, front swaybar, airfilter, exhaust, brake pads and tires/wheels. In SS road racing you only get an airfilter, cat back exhaust, brake pads and tires everything else is stock. The whole idea in SS was to keep cost down and make it a drivers race. However this does not apply to the RX8 as it is not in SS it is in T2 right now. There you get a full race suspension kit, different size wheels, ECU upgrade, etc.

it's a different set of rules and specifications, the rules you are looking for are in the SCCA General Competition Rules (GCR) road race rulebook, it's a whole separate publication
