Small Track trailer for tires etc & track trailer ideas
Ok, so my search skills on the forum suck. I've tried but can't find the thread on the "stinger" or "scorpion" or whatever its called tire hauling device that can be stuck in a rear trailer hitch mount to haul track tires. Sort works like a trailer hitch ski rack. Curves back up over the trunk like a scorpions tail with a 90° cross post off which up to 4 tires can be slid on for transport to the track. Does anyone have a link to the site or sites?
2nd, I've looked at a couple of small aluminum trailer options. eg. www.alumaklm.com, who offer several different small, light aluminum trailers, from the enclosed AE46 & smaller motorcycle pulled version, to a flat 4x6 "utility" trailer that could be modified for track use. Does anyone have any links to sites or other information or suggestions on building up a track tailer for pulling behind the Rx8 to carry tools, jack and, primarily, extra set or sets of track tires?
thanks

Uh, clyde, while the SSTrailers are nice, there is no way I could justify spending $1400 on a trailer, when I can get something that is more useful during the non-racing season for an order of magnitude less money.
You can get a kit trailer from Harbor Freight for $165 plus shipping. Though, if you go harbor freight, I highly recommend spending the additional cash and bumping up to the version with diamond tread steel bed. (model 2575-4VGA) It comes with larger wheels/tires, which on highway driving, are a VERY good thing.

I'm in the process of finishing my tire trailer, a Harbor Freight trailer. It's inexpensive, very popular within the autocrossing set, and allows you to decide how you want to carry things. If I had unlimited funds, I would rather buy a finished product, but if I had unlimited funds, I would drive a GT3.
My final result will look much like this.
