Spill the beans, who has tried 285 or 295 Hoosiers?
I am about to spend some money on tires on my BS RX8, and I am thinking of going with the 285 Hoosiers, but am not sure. I am no threat to anyone competitively, but if this were to be top secret sort of information yet you wouldn't mind throwing me a bone, I would appreciate a PM. Thanks.

All I know about running that size on a 18x8" wheel is that the winning Solstice was running the 295s at the Denver pro on that same size wheel. Will it work on a RX8, who knows? There's that and the fact that I'd hate to be the tire mounter 
Also, 275s fit with no problem on 18x9.5" wheels for STU if that helps any...

Thanks. I know they will fit a 18x8 rim. I don't think the Hoosiers are as bad to mount as the Kumhos are, in fact, I know they aren't. Frankly, I was going to leave that up to my tire guy who "aren't 'fraid uv nuthin'." Maybe that's how he lost that finger, eye, etc.
I am only a bit worried about rubbing. Given the issue of gearing, I would prefer the 285's to the 295's even though they are harder to mount. I know there are some folks on here running the 285's based on other posts. How are they working out?

I actually cant remember which day I saw him on the V710's but I think it was Saturday. I didnt really pay attention on Sunday. I talked with him about them and he seemed to think the V710's were the tire to have. (I agree)

I'm still a noob, and when I do a run, I usually know what I did better or not. More seat time is the most useful thing in the world for me.

FWIW, I have 275/40-17 V710s on the rear wheels of my S2000, which are 17x8.5. I got the wheels/tires from Ron and Annie Bauer last year, so I trust that it's a reasonable thing to do, but they're as bulging as I would want tires to be, so I have my doubts about wider tires, lower profile, on thinner wheels.

The S2000 has a nasty little reputation for oversteer, and the staggering helps with that. I've never seen somebody drive an s2000 for the first time and not spin. Its just gonna happen.
Okay, anybody with the 285's or 295's. Maybe I'll just go with the 275's or give in to the Kumho propoganda and go with the V710's. It would save me 100 or 200 bucks...that way I can buy some Koni's for the front....
