Stalled AP Racing Kit Development
Hello All,
I have some inside info that there is an AP Racing Brake kit for the Rx8 stuck in development "limbo" at STILLEN. It is a 13" 2 piece rotor with a 4 piston AP Racing Caliper. STILLEN - Brake Pros is the sole North American Distributor for AP Racing road-going kits.
I have seen/experienced their kit for the 350z and it is AWESOME. I spoke with the brake manager over there today and he said that if we can get some interest generated, they will put it into production. As of now, no one has expressed any interest so development has stalled . AP Racing is the premier brake manufacturer in most professional racing series including NASCAR, Grand Am, ALMS and WRC. These calipers are made in England by AP Racing.
If anyone is interested in this, call them at 714-755-6688 or visit their website: http://www.apracingusa.com
To get some additional background about AP Racing visit the UK site here:

This kit would be a great alternative to some of the other kits out there, if you are interested, please give them a buzz and let them know!

Oh boy, how the heck could I have forgotten F1!!! They are also the main supplier for clutches in that series! As far as cost...I do not know the exact pricing but they are pretty comptetive with everyone else on other applications. I know on the Z for example, they come in cheaper than Stoptech. But no kit will see the light of day if they don't know we want it. So if you are interested, please contact them and let them know!

Alright, I now have some more info on this kit, Chris over there is a very knowledgeable person. He gave me the current specs on the kit, though he did say that these are not set in stone, as the kit is not out yet - Come on guys, call him up and tell him we want it!
Rotors -
2 Piece floating design, 330mm x30mm, available drilled and slotted or just slotted
Calipers-
AP Racing 4 Piston Fixed Calipers
staggered bore 2x38.1mm and 2x41.3mm
Weights-
2 Piece Rotors= 17.8 lbs
Calipers= 6.8 lbs and much more rigid than stock, being of a fixed design.
Chris also was nice enough to send me the attached picture, which is for another application but has the same caliper and rotor size. If we get enough people calling in, they will put these kits out!
-Enjoy

I volunteer....myself! But they will have to put it out first...which means that we need to show them that we are interested! I forgot to mention that the kit would come with Ferodo brake pads and Goodridge Stainless Steel Lines (just like the picture).
If you are interested and would seriously consider this upgrade, add your name!

Well, they don't have final pricing for this kit in particular, but they have put out a similar kit for the RSX (same Caliper and rotor size) that is $2525.75 on their website. If we get enough interested in it, maybe we could work a group buy!

What model of caliper are they using?
That is the model (CP6600) I used in mine. I have used it on street and track now. They are excellent on track and have the most street appeal. The kit fits stock brakes and I change it with Project Mu HC+ pads and Project Mu SCR-PRO rotors

Love AP!

Now that looks HOT!
Great looking kit Taka! Here in the states the red calipers have black script, but boy oh boy does that white look nice when it is clean!
With this kit they are including larger two-piece AP Rotors as well. In other parts of the world AP is better known it seems, but throughout competitive racing they are widely regarded as the best that money can buy. In addition to this, the pad choices are numerous! The DS2500 by Ferodo is the pad that would come with this kit, according to Chris. This is a fast road pad that is good for track days as well! Here's a summary I got from Ferodo's website:
I've also attached a picture of their graph for this pad...

Ferodo’s DS2500 racing brake pads represent a new generation of friction material that’s low in compressibility, ensuring a firm pedal while providing great disc and pad life.
These pads were developed with characteristics that make them perfect for track days, including a consistent coefficient of friction (0.50) at any temperature, providing very predictable braking and great pedal modulation.
Combined with low wheel dusting and good noise characteristics, this product is the brake pad for the driver who needs the highest track-day braking performance.

Silverarrow!
Please for the love of god GET THE AP kit!
I want another person who loves it as much as me.
I also need someone to try as many pad as possible.
Silverarrow (can I called you SA?) - find out the kit number of the caliper. I can type a list of pad you can try with this caliper!
Ferodo is not bad but they do not have high heat rating! When I go to track, I need something over 700 degree pad for my R spec tyres.

Taka - I DEFINITELY want to get this kit, I just need to get enough people to call Brake Pros here in the States to show enough interest in the kit so they will release it!
Everyone, if you are interested in this kit, please contact Brake Pros at 714-755-6688, ask for Chris - he is the manager there and will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding the kit.

Bump! Anyone? Don't make me have to purchase these from Australia! Especially when they could be available right here in Southern California!

Well, it has been a while, but I am actually going to go down and have these brakes test fitted on my car next week sometime. I've been speaking with Chris in the brake department and they need to verify fitment on a stock wheel (maybe they will forget to take them off...yeah right). Anyway, I'll be sure to post up the results (and maybe a few pictures too).
I did notice that Japanparts now has the AP caliper only upgrade available from RE Amemiya for the SE3P but it comes with the calipers only, no rotor upgrade...

I am 99% sure that RE Amemiya kit is CP6600. The one I have. They fit stock rotor, so you can opt to have the stock rotor/replacement rotor of your choice fitted or a 330mm rotor from AP.
I had a laugh today after putting the car to Mazda to service. The guy said I had a leak of the master cylinder due to the AP caliper, not balance blah blah blah. But the leak is around the reservoir cap, and when I wipe that properly and refit the cap - screw tight. No leak after 30 minute drive. I really have to trust those people???
On a side, they broke my glove box changing the cabin filter I will tell him off tomorrow. I broke my old one too. I know they cost AUD$27. haha.

LOL... I just ordered my Endless 6 pot kit a few days ago. I had no idea these guys were local. (Like 8.3 mi from my house) . It seems like all the big brake kit US distros are around that area. It isn't very far front endless from what I can tell.

Do you have the Endless Type R pad with it? I am pretty ignorance of the Endless pad performance on the track. They seems to be very common among Asia but I just cannot find a pad that I like from the info they have given me.
Also spacer required or what after market wheel you have?
Hopefully your mazda dealer will not tell you the master cylinder is leaking. I cannot see the "leak" as described... They must have microscopic eyeslights.

Sorry not being specific for you.
I use the caliper for track days. And Endless pads are either too abrasive like the CC-R ceramics ones or the street sports that only goes up to 550 degrees or so. I have not seen something that I am comfortable with.
Project Mu on the other hand have the circuit sports that goes up to 900 C and can run on from zero degree
Yes, if you want to run R compound tyre you need 700 deg C plus on the circuit I think the Type S is great. But a pad operative temp of 200-850 does concern me. Operate under 200 C will accelerate wear of your pad and rotor.
Have you consider Type R pads? They seems to be most ideal for street and track, if you are running radial tyres not R spec tyres.
I am looking forward to your report. Since we have AP caliper and can run on any pads
BTW, TE37 should fit if you have +35 offset or so.
