I just installed the full Mazdaspeed coilover set on mine (Really Eibach Pro R1's) and had the new larger diameter shaft and seals installed. With the Mazdaspeed discount, I bet you are not far off at all on total cost from what you are trying to put together.

Yeah, it's not just about getting component x,y, and z for the lowest cost, I wanted to make sure I was getting good quality items so that I could be confident that it wasn't the equipment failing me!

The car still sits unmodified, I still compete in stx so I can run/work with my 86 twin buddies, I'm going to make this suspension thing happen at some point this year and start actually taking advantage of the limits of the class :-/

Here's video from yesterday's event in Waldorf, MD

Yea I wouldn't call these top notch or anything. They have nice monotube damper, and get you in the right direction for spring rates. You don't have to take the car apart to adjust them either.

By the time you do all the work to get a set of Konis done with mods, you might be at the same price for something good you can bolt right in.

I'm ok with the price being similar if the components are of superior quality, I just dont want to spend the same and end up with something which is *****. I'm trying to learn as much as i can in the meantime.

As soon as i wrap up the title at nats I'll start building customer sets :-P

Keep an eye on the MS/Eibach lower rear shock mounts, they are known to snap off at the body

I had them upgraded to the larger shock shafts.

Eibach makes them all this way now. I just happened to have bought the old style.

I have the Mazdaspeed and one snapped last year. Eibach has excellent customer service. I shipped both my rears and they fixed and upgraded them to the revised parts for free even though I didn't have a receipt of purchase for them. They even shipped them back to me for free.

I got mine very lightly used. They looked to be in perfect condition. I knew about the possible failure point, so I checked them. Both bent right at the lower mount.

I paid to have mine done...but they gave me a good discount.

How long have you had hours on the car with the updates?

I got mine back from Eibach late July 2013. Drove the car until the end of October before storing it for the winter. I put one track day (approx 175 km on track) and maybe 2500-3000 kms on them.
Before the snap I had approx 12000 kms on them with 3 light track days (maybe 350km on track total).

I've been very happy with them overall. Great dual purpose street/track coilover.
The guy that corner balanced my car is a very experienced and fast driver. He has something like 80000 km on Mosport GT track and 2 years ago he took out an rx8 that had these coilovers and hankook rs3 tires and broke the track record for that class of car.

Eibach Motion-Pro-2 Coilovers

There's a good bit of info on the Eibach R1/Mazdaspeed coil overs, but does anyone have any experience with the Eibach Multi-Pro-2 (double adjustable, remote reservoir)?

Car felt pretty good! I actually set FTDi my very first run. I ran into fuel starve problems in left handers after that, and that was with well over a 1/4 tank. New fuel pump ordered!

The site is concrete that has some bumps and transitions in it. Overall balance was very good, but I think I need to raise the ride height a touch. I'm at 13.25" all the way around, but was working the rear bump stops pretty hard. Next race is in 2 weeks so I'll see if the change helps.

Sorry I just saw your question. This is probably not the right thread, since we can't run any external reservoir in STX.

Perhaps you know something I don't, but I have seen local STX/STR guys with remote reservoirs. Also, looking at the rules, there are no restrictions to Street Touring shocks, save mounting points, etc., and external reservoirs are specifically allowed in Street, even.

From Street (Stock) under Shock Absorbers in the 2014 Rules.
E. A hole may be added through the bodywork to route the reservoir and hose to a remote mounting location. Such holes may serve no other purpose.

I take it you're still happy with your single adjustable set-up?

You can run remotes. The multi-pro-2 is not a known good autocross coilover. Not saying they can't/won't work, but you might be blazing a trail which usually is fun and expensive. KW Variant 3 is the easy button by comparison.

Yea you're right. I got my wires crossed there.

As far as liking them, yea so far I like them a lot! Its all relative though, considering I came from d-specs and progress tech springs...Lol.

I haven't done a test and tune yet either, so I basically bolted them up with some year old Rivals. So far so good I guess....until in drive something else that is better.. haha

I don't get to run nearly as often as a lot of people here. If I get 6 or 7 club events in I'm doing pretty good. So, take my opinions with a grain of salt.

You need to make the trek down Louisville. We have a pretty quick group in STX this year.

Yea a couple of you guys have made it up to Columbus a few times. I've met Raymond before, then someone else in a WRX....just can't remember his name.

If I find a spare Sunday, I'll for sure come down.

Yep that's him! Columbus is busy looking to patch a few spots on the current site, and are also trying to find a new site as well. There's a couple good spots so hopefully they find something that leaves them more options for a layout.

I do know that I'll be running there a few times this year, then on June 8 go try out the southern Indiana region. Maybe we can get a good group of stx to get together? I bet I could talk Joel (stx mini cooper) into going somewhere too.

I ran with you guys one time last year in my M3. That course was rough. Great layout, but the surface has seen better days.

Yea it is even more rough now, I guess with chunks coming out. This hard winter finished it off i think. They've got a couple options as far as moving where the layout is on the same property which will work for now, but it really needs a repave or a new location found, or both.

What ever happened to Progress springs?

https://secure.progressauto.com/prod.../productID/616

I thought they were supposed to be 425F/280R? Like shown in this thread.
