Yes, but will Costco show proper respect for those fancy SSR's?

Yup, it's a good price, and right now there is a coupon book that will get you an additional $70 off their normal price for Bridgestones.

One point about Costco: They refuse to mount tires that are wider than the OEM spec. However, if you just bring in the wheels, they are happy to mount whatever tires you ask.

As for Mark's diff project, I don't have the rule book in front of me right now, but can't we swap out the diff mouting bushings in STX? I think Mark had that baby in & out way to fast to be a swap with a Giken...

Don't let the in-n-out time trick you. One thing I've learned about Sipe over the years...that guy has lots of spares.

I sure hope so.

I did think about this. However, Costco is very customer service oriented. Plus, if the tire department were to **** off customers on a regular basis there would be much more at stake for the company than the a tire purchase 3 years in the future. People (my wife & I included) spend lots of $$$ at Costco and they want us to come back.

So I am hopeful that they will do no damage. But I am taking pics of the rims first just to be sure.

That's cool. I've never been to Costco, but I am generally wary of brining nice wheels to any of the larger tire retailers. Even for the wife's car, I go to the local race shop for tires. Perhaps I am just overly cautious...

Well, on this one I talked the talk but I didn't walk the walk. Ordered the tires, $1010 if you carry them out of the store, and I'm going to have the race shop that sets up my chassis do the mounting.

As you say, it does feel better to hand over the SSRs to guys you know personally.

And, I'd rather give them the $$$ anyway.

I suspect that Costco, like most chains, is going to vary location to location and even tech to tech. I've had a lot of recommendations and good luck with the Discount Tire down the street from my house, while the one closer to work never seemed to listen when I told them where to put the weights on the RPF1's (we already had that discussion, I know it's silly to balance race tires...) and I've also heard some horror stories from people at work about Corvettes jacked up by the rocker panels.

That said, we have an 8 owner near Seattle who works for Cosco corporate and he was saying that their corporate "mandate" is to sell everything at 3% above cost or less. Kinda tough for anyone to compete with that

George, are you coming up to Bremerton in 2 weeks? Also, check the NW section, I want to spam our regional ProSolo with 8's

Not coming to Bremerton - we have a test-n-tune on Sat, and an event on Sun, that same weekend on the "good" lot at PIR.

I'll definetly be at the regional pros with Karl. Should be fun.

We'll have to see... Getting a very very specific/special engine back exhaust built.. We'll have to see how it comes out. :D Other than the obvious alignment, corner balance stuff too.

Nah, just because I'll be getting a tune after and then I'll dyno it.

Also, someone had mentioned before that they were looking for solutions to kill the SRS light when swapping out race seats. After searching forever, I found this thread...
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ng+seat&page=2

Check out post #32. Guy did it with a 1watt 2.2ohm resistor and someone else with a 1/4watt 1.8ohm resistor. Thing is, no pictures of how they did it or what it looks like...and which plugs they plugged it into. I'm no electrician so I don't know anything about that crap. Bill is going to try taking care of it for me luckily, but figured I'd share the knowledge with everyone else.

I posted that several pages back, you just stick each end into the two wire connector under the seat and wrap it in some tape to keep it there

One of the seats has a magnetic switch that determines how close it is to the airbag for the high/low discharge setting. It is eliminated once you remove the OE rails. I'm not sure which setting it defaults to.

I'm sure someone has learned this answer the hard way...

I wonder if it's listed in the service manual?

Really? I must have totally misunderstood you then, thinking you were talking about something else. So just a resistor into all the connectors under both seats? Just the white connectors or the green single one as well on the driver side ( the seat position one you mentioned probably)..? Also do you need to reset the ECU for it to work?

EDIT: Just looked again and still couldn't find your post about doing the resistor for seats...
