Is there a track in the upstate NY area?

Preferably in the Albany area where I can go and learn how to drive, and become a good driver, lol Im a pretty humble guy and know that I'm not a "good driver" right now, and don't think I'll ever become pro, but I'd like to learn to be an adequate driver, and be able to "hold my own" on a track, and be able to take the car to the track every now and then and have fun with it . without being laughed at the whole way around lol, anyways thanks.

Autocrossing

Not living up in that area (I live on Long Island) I cannot help you with track information, however, if you want to learn car control safely and at the limit, try autocrossing. I'm sure there's a local branch of the SCCA up there. Also, perhaps, BMW or Porsche clubs.

When autocrossing, you can push your car, spin out, screw up.....whatever and without consequences. At the track you may kiss a wall, another car or worse. I enjoy both, but at the track there's always a bit of anxiety and, not infrequently, bent metal at the end of the day for some participant.

NASA runs autocrosses and track events and is now associated with the Performance Drivers Association (PDA).

Your two closest ones are Lime Rock (Conn.) and Watkins Glen (NY). Both are well known and great tracks. Lime Rock would be the closest one to you.

Yes, of course.

For a beginner, I would think that the East Course at Pocono would be a good start as the speeds tend to be slower.
