track problems...?!?
hi, i was doing my first solo1 at a local karting track and even though it was a good experience i had a lot of trouble with the TCS or fuel cut...
first off i have an 05 gt 6spd rx8 with Racing beat sway bars, REVi intake, Agency Power exhaust (stock midpipe), Mazdaspeed springs, 265/35/18R 245/40/18F tires on 8.5 and 9.5 wheels...no TPMS
the car behaved really well better than i expected but i had this weird cut off like a fuel cut in every sharp turn and also in the straightaway i tried to run it with the DSC on and also off but it didn't make any difference the car just shut down and the throttle went blank, it was dangerous and also worrying i tried searching and found something about disabling the TSC completely by pressing the DSC button for 7+ seconds and i didn't knew that but none of the problems explained by the members seemed to be the same as mine... the car had a 1/2 tank of fuel so it couldn't be fuel and the oil level was Full...
if there's a thread about the same problems just link and i'm sorry but i couldn't get anything while searching...
thanks in advance...

When mine was doing it in High G left turns......It would do it with 3/4 tank. I added a second pump...and replaced the OEM pump. When I use the new OEM pump alone it is OK to almost a 1/4 tank...so it tells me the OEM pump wasn't working...despite the dealer telling me it tested OK
I have a switch for the second pump and run it at the track. Since then I have had no fuel related problems.
On another note...if you have a failing coil you will trip a lot of missfire codes 0300 series....

it's not street drfting actually i dont like drifting as a "sport" i find it stupid
what i meant to say is that it didn't happen when you took off a turn or any stop and you loose traction(drift), it didn't even happen to me one day that we took the car to the dragstrip...

Drive like you stole it!
it has to be fuel starvation. Though it should not be happening when there is more than 1/3 left in the tank.
I was running at the weekend, and the fuel starvation did not kick in until just about the time the fuel light would come on, and yes it was high g left hand turns that did it.
I have a 06 by the way.

A Slightly Different Case - The Four-wheel Drift
This happens when all four wheels have very little grip on the road, and the vehicle slides in whichever direction it wants to. It is often manifested as an extreme case of understeer, where the whole vehicle is slipping, not just the front wheels.
The generally recommended course of action is to turn gently into the direction of the skid, so that the vehicle has a chance of steering itself out of it.

You learned something new today. Or will you just ignore it? Probably the latter.
Heck... go rent the 1st season of Initial D. It's covered in there.

I actually started the day with a full tank, and the second I got the first hint of fuel starvation I pulled in, and topped up (brought a 20l canister), so no harm done there.
Excellent advice though blueren.

lol--walk in front!
I too had fuel starvation in high G L handed turn--but only at high rpm fuel demand. It was 3nd gear at about 8K, dropped to 4th and 6.7 K or so and the problem went away. Had over a 1/2 tank of gas. New OEM fuel pump? Hmmmmm. Never thought the oem would not be good enough.
Thanks

I've been scheming how I can transport myself down there so I can get some track time in during the winter.
