Video of my First AutoX
Amazing day yesterday in Santa Barbara! We all received 13 runs on the track through the entire day, with the last three being the offical timed runs. I dont have the official times yet, but this lap video was around 67.1 seconds and zero cones hit. But for comparison the average appeared to be 68-70 seconds, and half the field were porshes and my times were often two seconds+ better than some sick rides!
I will post more video later when I do some cutting up, but I improved dramatically in my entering/exiting speeds, lines, braking all through the progression of videos, and this video is where I put it all together the best. Definetly room for improvement though... and also the surface was sketchy in areas, like the full circle at the beginning might as well have been a gravel bed and going too fast would slide you through cones easily.

This being my first race I have nothing to compare the track to, but I didnt hear anyone voicing complaints about it. It was put on by Zone 8 Porchse club of America so they are pretty experienced at it. Regardless it was sweet and I learned a lot!

Glad you enjoyed it Autocross is for winners.
The track is strange because they lined the track normally with autocross a lot of the fun is trying to figure out a line around a random cone. That course seemed far too tight with no obstacles like slalom, boxes, bus stop. Just a really tight track.
Glad you enjoyed it the Rx8 is a great car right out of the box, Happy Racing

[QUOTE=WTBRotary!;4211044]is this a serious video?[/nQUOTE]
What is that supposed to mean?
Check this out. I had taped down an old cell phone with camera to record the mph and was blown away by the reflection of me driving captured as well. I lined up the timing with the main camera and interlaid the two

Damn cool vid, nice work with the speedo cam but as others have said... weird layout compared to other autoX's I've seen lol... that is a crazy amount of steering wheel action! I just had to laugh a bit at you in the reflection that must've been a good work out!

Yeah my arms did get a nice workout after 13 runs on the course! LOL... But the parking lot used is very small compared to some autox videos i have just seen of other events. Next month is Camarillo on an old airstrip so hopefully we can let loose some more.
My friend who drove his Mustang 5.0 took some video from the sidelines, so I am working on a multi perspective video now. And next step is to invest in some cheaper ($50-75))digital cameras that can shoot at least 720P video and mount in various positions. I would love to try a 3-5ft pole coming off the rear window and get a behind the car view a la Gran Turismo!
