What's the best lap of Stock RX-8 at Streets of Willow

I been trying to dig this information up. They have the time for Big Willow but not Streets. Can anyone confirm? I been getting told that stock S2K can pull in better times; 1.30.xx.

Thanks,

they say that rx-8 in the video is heavily modded. there is no real fact that it's stock and i dont see a time on that. its one thing to beat a S2K with a bad driver vs a good driver in a RX-8. My personal best was 1.45.xx. I think a professional could maybe do it around 1.30.xx, similar to S2K, I just want to confirm...

Did you read the description? He said his best time of the day was 1:28 and it's NA so it's not heavily modified. It's 95% driver and 5% car. Hence why people like Sabine Schmidt can run faster times on the Ring in a minivan than most 911 Turbo owners run on the ring.

NA doesn't tell you about tires, brakes and suspension though, all of which could make a huge difference over stock.

Yes, I am looking for pure stock vs stock.

Yes it can all make a difference until you try and follow a pro in a bone stock RX-8 and get beat by 20 seconds. Stock versus stock doesn't mean **** unless you are running on the same day with the same driver, same tires, etc. People get so hung up on mods for the track when they can't even outdrive the stock suspension.

Exactly. That's what I am looking for. Same driver, ideally on the same day, stock suspension and tires. I guess I'm out of luck for SOW.

Same driver, driving a bone stock RX-8 and a bone stock S2000 in similar condition/mileage, with the same tires, on the same day.

Why do you need this info?

We're trying to pull this kind of info here: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-racing-...-times-258913/
Feel free to contribute. There is one entry for SoW.

I ran there in my 2005 RX8 with HKS CAT back and 245/40R17 Kumho XS. I did a 1:30.01. Went back the following weekend with Bilstein PSS9 Coil-overs and Front Sway bar and ran 1:28.000. With better street rubber than the XS a 1:27XX would be easy. R -comps would be 1:26's Hope that helps.

Stock for stock it is close. The s2k comes with skinnier tires stock though, so once you add wider rubber the s2k really becomes fast.

blkswan,

If you are running 1:45s don't mod the car, just learn to drive it. It is a extremely fun chassis. Get use to being out dragged in the straights, not much will change that. You can learn to be faster in the corners and overall. Enjoy, maybe i'll see you out there sometime

Thanks guys for the feedback. That's a good point about seat time. I'm okay with that if it means the car is just a few seconds slower.

Jeff Stuart (14' CS National Champion) got a 1:29 flat in a bone stock RX8 on RS3 V1s. So I think on RE71R and good shocks, and a very good driver you could see 1:28s or lower.

Yes, I agree. I think a better driver could pull a faster time. I have never pushed my car this way before and did not want to spin out on my first time at the track. my tires were also not the greatest; goodyear eagle, dont remember which one..i'll update when i upgrade my tires and run next time in August. Thanks.

You are doing it right, just take it slow and learn the basics. The speed will come.

I did a 1:29 going CCW, but had suspension.

So those times posted are fair, and is highly driver dependent, time of day, track temp, and most importantly alignment tuning (I have a gimp rx8 that can max neg 1 camber on teh driver). The tracks get paved and the time changes.

A S2K is way faster than an RX8 as a car. The rx8 is easier to drive than a S2K and give more confidence to the driver. Equal cars S2K will always be faster, but the 8 is funner to take to its limits and play around.

Big willow is way more fun than streets for the rx8.
