Why did you guys take a step backwards and shoehorn a 20B into an RX-8? Why couldn't you guys work with what you had, the 13B-MSP? No offense, but your RX-8 demo car is pretty much worthless; it doesn't model what most of us want for our cars -- superior performance without doing insane modifications, such as replacing the stock engine with an old 3-rotor. For shame. I'm not questioning your ability, but rather your premise. Installing a 20B motor into an RX-8 is nonetheless impressive, but what does that mean for the rest of us?

In my own defense, I don't care about the racing. It's more about the principle. Acosta Racing is very famous in drag racing. I'm not bashing ACOSTARACING, but rather questioning why they built a 20B-powered RX-8.

well the reason i built the 20b rx-8, becuase it's my personal car, and i wanted this car different from everyone. now i also have a Red rx-8 which still has the renesis, and we have dont alot of work to that, but the silver car always over shadow it. we have also been using the red rx-8 as our piggy to test our turbo kit on it. here is a picture of my silver & red rx-8

Though Ike sounds rather harsh sometimes, he has a valid statement. I could recall when we heard about the Acosta RX-8 that it ran against the Porche etc for some sort of video... but we never got to see it anywhere. Then we see the car for sale twice, but no buyers. I'm curious if the car is as fast as it claims also.
20B in an RX-8 is beefy... pretty cool.

ok,, many guys keep asking me this question,, yes the car was sold TWICE but both time the bank didn't approve the loan to the clients. so we were left with just a ebay fee. autostream films, actually logs in here and ask for an rx-8, it's a usa company, go to the NE section, and you will see more there

I'll take you avoiding my question as a no. This car is nothing but a show car with a big engine and would proboably implode if it were psuhed hard.
Rotormotor if you had been here more than few months you would understand what people are talking about in this thread, and why some people aren't all gaga over this car and Acostaracing.

ok let me answerd that for you,
1. My RX-8 is my street car, that i drive, i dont want to breack this car putting slicks on ,,and taking it to drag , it's not what i build it for. ( FOR THAT I HAVE A PRO MAZDA PICK-UP)
2. THE RX-8 as of now, has only been tested in 1 mile race or top speed how ever you want to put it has, 220mph
3. you sound like you are jealous,, do you wish to be like me when you grow up.

Sorry to come off as harsh but I find nothing impressive about trailer/dyno/show queens so I'm hardly jealous. I think it's a shame and a waste of a car but that's just my opinion, which I'm entitled to, just like you're entitled to have your showcar. However you play it off as some badass ride and likes it's being pitted against these other great cars in races when the fact of the matter is the car probably can't even be safely pushed without having serious problems. Who cares if it has 900hp when you can't actually put it to any good use?

While it's great that these guys do things that others haven't tried to do yet, all we've seen is talk about 'how fast' the cars are.
In power wars, there's two things that gain recognition on the net.... dyno sheets and time slips.
Other than that... it's all talk. I can sit here and type that I have tne baddest car in the world, it's got 1200hp, AWD and runs on methanol.. and I moved the engine to the rear... becuyase it has the space.. being a wagon and all.
I can include a picture of the car, I can even show the interior. Does that give me the right so start threads saying "I can do THIS" when there's no proof?
That's all that's going on here... it's getting to the poiint being tired of the talk,...
Show us the money.

I fully understand that a dyno shee times slip eccesay for a car to be proven. But do you think that MODIFIED Magazine lied about the amount of HP the car had. Yes, i know that no time slip are available, but does a car with 900 HP really have to prove itself. If i had that car i gurantee you that it would not be on the track. It is more or less a novelty item then a track car anyway. Like IKEWRX said, I may have missed something earlier in the FORUM before i was a member here. Did ACOSTARACING ever say that he was running like 8's or something like that.

I agree with Ike too....we as RX8 enthusiasts can't look up to this car because they swapped out the Renesis for another motor...heck, those Civic boys do it all the time.
AND, the fact that you raced it only is a 1 mile race is pretty dumb, since with all that money invested, and all that time and effort, you can't even show a simple timeslip OR video of it running, which is a real shame. you brag on how fast it is and how much horsepower it makes, but your audience has to take your word for it by Dyno numbers....whoopee.

Ok I had to edit my last post, I just saw the Acosta racing website and I have to say G'DAMN that is expensive to convert a car. With that money I should just buy a car that is fast in the first place, like wholey f'kin sh't, I thought my browser was messing up the numbers!!!!!!!!!!! WOW.

I can't justify spending almost a hundered thousand dollars to make a car faster.
Seems they know their business though but damn I am still sticker shocked g'damn.
With prices like that I don't see many 8 owners willing to do those mods when most mods of an engine should be running in the high 20k range not 80k dollars 3 - 4 times the worth of the orginal car price. once again G'DAmn!
In fact I know of an R32 with 900HP that was selling for 35k!
