I spent an hour buffing out a scuff mark on my passenger side door that was left by a rogue cone that leaped at my car as I went by.
I guess you got revenge on the one in your avatar then?

The car feels heavy when racing. I ran a S2000 almost back to back with the 8 and it is amazing how much lighter the S2000 feel.

1310 kg or 2888 lbs (base/type-S, similar to US sport)
1350 kg or 2976 lbs (type-E, which is similar to the US GT in options)

The above is for the JDM models, our US models are a little heavier (I believe due to heavier crash bumpers.) Nevertheless, this is a good data point in the deltas for the various options.

Regarding, black or yellow. I love the RX-8 in both of those colors, but I'm partial to yellow. The rumors about yellow being weaker paint vs. other colors is BS to me. Never had any problems with mine. I think it may just show the contrast of chips more than other colors that's all. Black on the other hand is a real pain to maintain. Yellow is also more rare. But color is really a subjective thing.

My codriver had problems as well. He replaced his SA2000 helmet with an M2000 rated helmet. His new helmet gave him more clearance. If you need that extra quarter inch, than maybe a new helmet might be in order.

the National level S2000's weigh in the low 2600# range in full Stock class race trim, so yeah, it's at least 200# lighter and smaller too

I had the pleasure of learning the same from him. That man will always be at the top of my "most learned from" mentor list. I consider myself very fortunate to have received direct tutoring from him.

Me too. He was down here visiting one of our club members (Jim had built their tube frame BP corvette and was down here re-doing the suspension) He came out on a saturday to teach a few of us. He showed me where to look when autoxing. I too am fortunate to have had that private lesson from him. It was priceless.
