3M protective film
I've had my 8 now since November, and have tried to drive in a manner as to not get any rocks kicked up from the highway (pull back off of traffic, don't drive on rocks, etc.), but I've been unsuccessful - there are now three paint chips on the front. My question is: Has anyone used the clear protective film from 3M? How easy was it to put on? What is the cost? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Viper - The link below will give you an idea of how the product looks once its applied to the car. I had it done a couple of months ago and all seems to be going well. It is a major pain in the rear to put it on so let a professional take care of it. From what I hear, people are paying pretty a pretty stiff price for installation so shop around but make sure of the shops credentials first.
The complete kit from Clear-Guard will run you between 4 and 5 bills and again installation could really be up there. I've seen a range from $150 to $1300 so who knows. If you call CG, ask for John and tell him you saw his product on this website. He's a great guy and should take care of all your questions and concerns. Good Luck!!

Hi Viper501!
I just recently got the 3M clear coat finish done for my car. Boy, does it look sweet. Here is a link to the 3M webpage http://cms.3m.com/cms/US/en/2-168/clelFFC/view.jhtml. Go to www.xpel.com and click on the "shop" button. You can get all the details. I took the entire package and had it installed at my home. Total cost about $825. I think it's worth it. Send me an email at athanur@yahoo.com for more info. Good luck. andy

I have it on 2 motorcycles and have been very pleased. So I decided to have it put on the car. Mine was a pretty extensvie install including:
Front bumber
Lower part of hood
Lower part of front fenders
Mirrors
Side sills
Door handle pockets
Door edges
Headlights
Foglights
Side markers
Mudguards
Cost $625.00 installed and I must say it looks good.
My car is sunlight silver and the line is not too obvious.
