Anyone do detailing for a living?
I am probably going to retire from the military next year and I am looking into opening my own detailing place. Going through boatloads of research right now. Anyone do this that can provide some insight? I am looking at the best possible training companies. Haven't decided which one I will attend yet. My goal is a detail/paintless dent shop.

Well, when I was in undergrad at Xavier in New Orleans back (graduated '03) I ended up detailing girls cars for extra cash. I had my FD down there for two years--then the final years I had a Millenia S. I use to keep the cars so clean that people--mainly girls would offer me $$ to hook there cars up. "Everytime I see your car its just glistening" One of the tricks I used on my Millenia S to generate the business was shine up my chrome rims after the rain--the rest of the car would be dusty and everyone elses car would still be dirty; but when they would see my car pass the chrome would be glistenin. The eyes and mind trick em into thinking the whole car is clean "no way would the rims be shining if the car wasn't clean! and no one is crazy enough to just shine the rims". Just a little side story.

Bmc: I'm sure you've been there already, but you should make a post at Autopia.org. There's a special section in their forum just for professional detailing. They could give you some very sound and real advice, I'm sure.
