Calipers - Where Can I Get Them Painted?

I don't trust myself screwing around with my brakes which I would have to do to paint my calipers. Does anyone know where I could get them done proffesionally ie. the dealer's paint shop or a custom paint shop? Has anyone ever had them done by someone else rather than do them yourself? Maybe I'm just a giant pu$$ but I'd rather not find out my mechanical inadequacies while trying to stop at 95 mph.

if you get a little on the brake surface it will quickly burn off as you use your car.

It's really not a big deal.

The only thing you have to remove in order to paint the calipers is the wheel.

Did mine today. Just take the wheels off and tape off the pad. Brush on the paint. Easy job if you have 4 jack stands and a jack. Like they said, only wheels need to come off.

Check out the DIY thread on this board just to make sure you are too uncomfortable to do it. It seems that is should be easy enough to do. Maybe ask someone to help you out with it. You could save yourself some $$$.

I read the first page of threads on teh DIY and read that you have to remove the rotors. After reading your posts I went back and read a little further where I saw people had done them without taking the rotors off. I think I could actually handle that job. Thanks for the heads up fellas! Anyone have any wild color ideas for a Titanium 8? Maybe black with yellow letters? I'm open to suggestions! Thanks everyone!

Titanium is a good one because any color would look good on it, red, blue, yellow, whatever. I personally prefer bright colors because you can't really see silver or black

any color you want:

The more I think about it I might go yellow with black letters. That would stand out and look pretty sharp I think. Thanks for the link!

I went with silver on my Nordic Green. Simple reason, I didn't want it real flashy, just a nice clean look to go with my new rims that should be on the way this week. It really was an easy job and the calipers look really good. Look like they came that way vs that dirty nasty look. Go for it.

If you have an Orielly's Auto Parts in you area they sell a kit from Dupli-Color for like $15.99. Comes with everything: Caliper cleaner, masking tape, brush, and paint.

If you're chicken to take your wheels off, you can always try painting through the rims. We have nice 18's so that should give you enough room to get a paint brush through. I painted mine through my 17" winter rims and the calipers turned out fine. Just be careful that you don't drip paint on the rims.

I saw Blue Frenzy's brakes...they turned out fine. They did however make his car slower. (if that's even possible).

I took my rims off and painted mine. It took a couple of hours.

I'm ok with taking off the wheels but I'm not screwing with the rotors. The DIY called for taking the rotor's off. I think the term they used was " break them free ". I'm not big on taking chances with my breaks. I'll be taking off teh wheels and doing it that way once it warms up. Yellow with black letters is the way I'm going unless I'm talked out of it.
