Thanks Genesis and Pete and to all others who share their view. I know that the way I have my car may not be the way others like it. But, I like it and it makes me happy. I just take it all as constructive criticism. For those of you who wonder about the competition, a lot of it was a wide assortment of Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, and your regular tuner cars and mini trucks. The thing that got me was the person who won, and this will probably go to show how much the voting was messed up. The winner was a stock '05 Mustang GT, straight from the dealer. And whatever factory did the paint job did a terrible job. The paint job was all orange pealed. If no one knows what "orange peal" is, it is where when you look into a cars paint and you see a clear reflection (that's good), but when the reflection is all wavy and blurry (looking like you are seeing the reflection off of an orange peal). So, go figure on that one.

sorry to say but the stock rx8 comes with orange peel. Unless you got it buffed your car also has orange peel. And no its not just my car..all rx8's from the factory come like that...

Baseball.. it's all good. Gotta give you credit enough to stand by your creation. :P Ya, the black stripe is a bit different, but at least it's different... not like the other clones out there. Good job on winning something, at least the 8 won stuff over the other cars... We have to represent the Mazda family!
The only other thing I would change is the screen in front of the dash... I would have had that Piano black glossy, like our stock one.. would shine a bit more. Maybe it's the pic, but that part looked dull. Other than that, pretty cool

Yeah, I did have the car buffed out and detailed when the new paint job was put on. The reflection looks smooth as glass on there. The quality of the paint job is really great. And not quite sure what you are referring to "screen in front of the dash"? If it is what I think you are talking about, that single screen actually sits fiber glassed into the center console in the back seat just in front of the storage compart on the center divider. Unfortunately, the pic turned out dull because being in the back seat, I couldn't get far back enough to take a good quality pic. I apologize on that, wanted to show it was there though. And yeah, the whole idea of entering the car show was to represent the RX-8. I was the only one in the show of that car. The trophy goes out to the whole 8 family.

Great Job
I have taken mine to some shows, and the ones that win are set up a lot like yours is. I polish mine but I did not customize for the shows like you did.
While not necessarily something I would do for mine, that is not the point.
The Whole point of personal customizing is to make it your personal car, and you did a great job.
Keep up the great work. Oh by the way, your black strip is a nice touch.
I finally did some customizing on mine. Just got it back from the shop. If the weather is good this weekend I will get some pics and post some before and after.
Now that I see the RX8 can win, I think I will enter mine in a few more shows.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Hey X, I'll take your advice on that. I am currently located in Southern Illinois. I honestly know I wouldn't stand a chance except for maybe a decent representation of the 8 family in SoCal.

Besides, I still stand by the fact that Car Shows here in So Cal are a big waste of time and money... The prize is usually $100 for 1st place at most shows like HIN, and you would prolly have spent more than that just to get the car there. On top of that, you would have to compete against the $100k+ sponsored cars and get demolished. Ack.. so discouraging.
If not Piano black, go CF

representing is the key...i once went to a meet and thought it was going to be a shop event...a few hours later it turned out to be a car show...i was tricked by some friends...everyone that entered received a plaque but i didn't want one cause i know i didn't deserve it. At the time i only had my intake kit on..haha sad...

Well, congrats on your win. Was your car originally a yellow? Personally I don't like the stripe but as long as you like it, it's all good.
Your interior is great though. Very clean and not too tacky.
It's funny because I'm use to seeing winners being crazy modded Civics, Supras, etc with bodykits that make the car look nothing like the original. The winner was a stock mustang?? That is too funny.

its all good, at least baseball have represented the rx-8 community :D
i have to admit that when it come to modding cars, its personal, and if baseball like it, then its all that matters.
i have modded my 8 and have put it in a car show last month here in sydney for display only.
guess i should say.... keep up the good/unique work and all the best. now you should go and do more modding on the 8 :p

Thanks for everyone's compliments. I know I can't please everyone with the colore scheme, but I like it so I'm happy.
And Frenzy, originally it was Lightning Yellow, but added the black stripe and charcoal pinstripe later. The reason the paint got put on was because back on March 31 someone rear ended me on my way to work. Maybe this will also help appreciate what has been done to the car. I was at a stand still in my car, when the guy behind me hit me at 60 mph not paying attention, throwing me and my car into the car in front of me. There was about $12,000 worth of damage and me left with a messed up back which has gotten better, some what. When the body shop repaired the car is when I had them add the paint job. After the car was hit, the whole trunk was crushed in and the front was pretty badly banged up. I'm just glad to have her back in one piece and looking good.

Baseball,
Congrats on your win.
For a cleaner look, can relocate the XM antenna inside the car, under the black plastic cover in between the rear speaker grilles. Mine was there all the time and works just fine as it sits on a large metal shelf (in which the speakers are mounted) and it's about 15" from the rear window edge (so middle of the shelf).

Thanks bxb, I'll take that into consideration. The wire to the antenna seems to be grounding out against the trunk lid so that may be a good suggestion.

Well, I can't say too much. I had the same original concept, but didn't like the 'major change' so I stayed with the red.
Vs.
It's always nice to see some creativity rather than the same stuff on every car.
