Car wash? Also wax?

Car wash? Also wax?
Hey guys , i have a few questions. I usually wash my car once or twice a week. Will this somehow dull my paint or damage it in someway? I just love washing my car , and for wax. I use meguiars nxt paste , how long should i wait to add another coat? How long should i wait to buff it off , or does that depend on the temperature outside? How many coats is "too much" I have a lot of free time so i like to add as many coats as possible to enhance the shine... Replies would be appreciated

i use to layer nxt like crazy. it does seem to make it smoother, but it's not the wax, it's the cleaner substance in the wax that makes it smoother. nxt is a cleaner wax, means everytime you apply a layer, the cleaner stripps of the previous layer of wax.
for any additional shine or protection, you will have to use something else, such as a pure wax. any pure carnauba wax will do.
i currently put one layer of nxt and then multiple layers of p21s. usually waiting 1/2 a day to 24 hours between layers. which means,... however, not driving it for a few days.

Turbo, you can get s100 which is p21s but with a different name at almost any motorcycle store. Harley riders and the such use it to wax their bikes. It's a lot easier (and cheaper) to use the p21s and is identical.

yes p21s concours carnauba wax is the same as s100. just more expensive. heh..
the brand itself is p21s and it is not an OTC product. check out autopia-carcare.com for any info on it.

Thx for the reply guys , i will look into getting some p21s! Btw Ngo i really like your car alot lol seen it couple times i have it saved on my computer , not to sound creepy or anything . Yeah i also live in your closet -_-. Can i buy p21s in local autozone? Not anything like buying it only online like the zaino i hope? What you mean by waiting half day between coats u mean like add 1 layer , buff off , wait half a day then re-apply? Cause like....wow....

thanks for the comment
p21s must be purchased online. or if there is a local bike shop, they might stock some s100.
yea, apply a layer and then buff out and wait day. i say waiting 1/2-1 day because the wax needs time to cure before adding another coat.

What color is the car? If it's a metallic I recommend looking into a few polishes online as they will make the metallics pop. If it's a black then look at getting a good wax because it'll make the car looking dripping wet. For polishes look at Chemical Guys .com and also their wax, 50/50 and Petes '53 are AMAZING just make sure you're using the proper wash method with some high quality microfiber towels.

Is Natty's Paste Wax (blue) available OTC? Is it a carnuba wax? My 8 is Black so hoping this will be a good choice.
My plan is:
rainx bug and tar on rough spots
wash with a decent OTC wash
Meg. clay bar
wash again
dry
Turtle wax ICE on plastic trim
Maybe a base coat of ICE or NXT?
Finally a good wax/protectant (still trying to decide on brand/product)
Any feedback?

Poorboys World is based in NY and if you order directly from them it should not take too long. Natty's in a Poorboys' product. I'd order the best first instead of going OTC. Sure some OTC is OK but you may not like it and then go out and buy CG or PB stuff and then you're spending more money. You can get good OTC microfiber towels from K-Mart by Viking.

To OP: PROPERLY Washing your car will not harm it. I have no idea how you wash it but here's a good article on how to properly wash your car.

Nothing wrong with washing your car frequently, just need to use a proper technique.
- Keep your wash mit clean. I use 2 buckets, one with soap / water, the other just water
- Mr. Miagi was WRONG! Do not use circular motions. Straight up and down at all times
- Microfiber is your friend. Don't use cheap wash mits
As for polish... well, I think most people here know I'm slightly partial to Zaino. Stay tuned for a new thread I'm making later tonight....it might simply be my BEST zaino job yet!

I used to apply NXT and ICE, but I've recently tried Natty's Paste and the difference was day and night!!
High recommend Natty's Paste ( Blue.. for darker color. mine is Cooper)
on the other hand, I recently bought a bottle of S100 from the local harvey davidson dealer, have yet to use it though.
