Question Cold Weather Zaino

Anyone applied Zaino is the winter months? Its in the mid-40s around here now, and I want to get a good coat to protect my paint before the snow comes...any advice? I got the complete Zaino kit.

It's not ideal weather but I have had success with applying Zaino when the weather was around 10C. Need to use ZFX though to quicken the drying process.

Use ZFX as stated. Make sure you let the car dry VERY WELL. Heated garages are your friends. If you have a friend/relative with a garage + heater, make the drive. It is worth it.

As far as washing the car goes....

Use warmer water. Dry with an electric leaf blower

I apply it all year long. Used to do it once a week... Boy it made the black paint come alive.:p
Make sure you have ALL day to spare, cause if you just got the kit you are bound to apply too much, and then it will take ages.
Zaino gets tricky with the amount tobe applied, but once youget the hang of it its worth it.

How much is too much? How much of one of those 2 oz mixing bottles do you use for your car? I know you have to apply sparingly, but how much is necessary?

Use a 100% cotton applicator and just put a dab on it. Apply more only when necessary.

When you apply it it should NOT be that white-ish wax look. It should be very light, as the paint looks "cloudy" or "foggy". Make sure you let it dry until it comes of clear. You should not have to rub on it much with a towel (if you do its bc/ its not dry and/or you aplied too much). It might take a couple times till you get the hang of it.

Hope this helps.

Gus.

I use 1oz almost exactly for my RX8. That's being fairly sparing. Remember that in general thicker is not better for this type of product. You're really working at extremely small scales, and only need enough to fill the surface layers anyway.

How about others?

1 oz did my car twice over (2 coats) and had enough left to do every nook and cranny of the rims to make that brake dust fly off!

Can Zaino be applied with an orbital buffer? This would probably help a little with even and thin application.

My thoughts exactly - I know it significantly cuts down the amount of liquid Meguiars I have to use compared to putting the elbow to work. Anyone tried this approach yet?

I just read on their web site that an orbital buffer is not recommended because it wastes too much product saturating the buffing pad. They referred to larger 10-11 inch buffers, though, and I wonder if a smaller 5-6 inch buffer might be effective. I guess Zaino is so easy to apply that a buffer is just not worth it. I'll find out soon enough, my starter kit is on the way!

Zaino is so easy to put on that I wouldn't even consider a buffer. It can't make it any easier. The haze also comes off very easy if the Zaino was applied right, but I would consider a buffer for removal. I think it would be easier not to miss a spot with a buffer. Sometimes I wonder if the main purpose of the detail spray between coats is mainly to make sure all hazed product was removed. After my final coat I've used the spray on half the hood and then stood back with family members to try to see the increased gloss from the spray and had difficulty seeing any difference.

If you read their suggestions, they say to apply in a back and forth motion, not circular, which is what a buffer will do.

Zaino goes on perfectly in cold weather and I'm very glad as here in the UK we can't expect much else for a good few months now.
I got my first three coats onto my Titanium Grey this weekend and the effect is stunning...

Damn!! I have seven coats on and get tons of compliments, but after following that link, I think I may spend the next several weekends applying about 23 more coats. Damn that car with 30 coats looked good. I'm glad I reordered and stocked up.
